WHISTLER, B.C. -- With the new year just around the corner, Whistler Resort has some exciting events planned starting in January. For the first time in Canada, Whistler will host the 2001 FIS Freestyle World Ski Championships from Jan. 17 - 21, 2001. This five-day event will showcase the world's top freestyle skiers in aerial, mogul and dual mogul competitions. In addition to the World Championship competitions, there will be demonstration events such as the "Quarter Pipe" and "Big Air." In the village, there will be live entertainment and community events.
The sixth annual TELUS World Ski & Snowboard Festival, April 13-22, 2001, celebrates alpine competitions, activities and non-stop entertainment. The 10-day festival includes the internationally televised World Skiing Invitational and World Snowboarding Championship, a high-energy outdoor music series, a prestigious action-sport photography showdown event, demo days, film premieres and industry symposiums.
