Hydrogen Advertising

Hydrogen Advertising, a new advertising agency, has opened in Pioneer Square. Co-founder and president Bill Fritsch, unites with three colleagues: Rick Peterson, creative director/copywriter; Tom Scherer, creative director/art director; and Tracy Mirabelli. All previously worked together at Fritsch-founded Cf2GS. Fritsch was president of Cf2GS. Steve MacDonald also joins the firm as director of client services. MacDonald was previously CEO of Beyond360. All are partners in the new enterprise, which has offices at 316 Occidental Ave. S., Suite 310.

Hope Heart Institute

The Hope Heart Institute has appointed Peter M. Penna, Pharm. D. and Andy Stergachis, R.Ph., Ph.D. as vice presidents of pharmaceutical research. Penna was a consultant in managed care. Stergachis, who also serves as an affiliate professor of pharmacy and epidemiology at the University of Washington and senior pharmacy advisor for drugstore.com., was most recently chairman of the Department of Pharmacy at the University of Washington. The Seattle institute is a nonprofit organization involved in cardiovascular research, prevention and education.

Tatum CFO Partners

Tatum CFO Partners, a nationwide professional services firm of chief financial officers, has opened an office in Seattle. It will be run by Chuck Gottschalk as area managing partner. Prior to joining Tatum, Gottschalk served as CEO or CFO for emerging growth technology companies and was a director at Price Waterhouse in Seattle, overseeing its practice focused on new media, emerging growth companies. The firm provides CFOs on a project, interim or permanent basis to emerging growth and middle market companies.

Pacific Crest Securities

Joseph Tou has joined Pacific Crest Securities as a research analyst specializing in the semiconductor field. Tou was a senior marketing strategy manager for Intel. Pacific Crest Securities has offices in Portland, San Francisco, Seattle, and Boston.

Forgotten Children's Fund

Volunteers are needed to work in Santa's workshop, sorting, wrapping and delivering gifts for the Forgotten Children's Fund. Santa's workshop is located in Bellevue and will be staffed Dec. 8-23. The fund was established in 1974 and currently collects and delivers holiday gifts to 2,500 children. The fund also collects and delivers blankets and food to seniors. This year the workshop is located at 15815 S.E. 37th St. For volunteer information, call (425) 401-0915.

State Public Works Board

Governor Gary Locke appointed Darlene McHenry to the Washington State Public Works Board. McHenry has worked in city, county and state government and is now executive director of the Utility Contractors Association. The board oversees five programs that finance local government infrastructure improvements.

Aventail

Aventail Corp. hired Joseph White as vice president of North American sales and promoted Jeremy Freeland to vice president and general counsel. White will be responsible for strategic management and day-to-day operations of Aventail's North American sales organization. White was senior vice president of sales at Innuity. Freeland will oversee all legal matters for the company. He joined Aventail in 1999 and previously served as general counsel. Aventail is an extranet and VPN service provider.

First Consumers National Bank

James E. Huston has joined First Consumers National Bank as executive vice president and chief financial officer, responsible for all major areas of finance and accounting. Huston previously served as executive vice president and chief financial officer at Aames Financial Corp. Headquartered in Beaverton, Ore., First Consumers National Bank is a subsidiary of Spiegel, Inc. and provides credit-related services to Spiegel Catalog, Eddie Bauer, Newport News and its MasterCard and Visa customers.

Advanced Diagnostics Systems

Allan R. Criss is the new vice president, sales and marketing at Advanced Diagnostics. Most recently, he served as the vice president of cardiology sales in the United States for ATL Ultrasound. Advanced Diagnostics Systems, located in Preston, develops medical imaging technology.

Appraisal Foundation

Among individuals appointed to positions with the national Appraisal Foundation at its annual meeting were Sandra Guilfoil of Olympia and Ed Morse of Coeur d'Alene to the appraiser qualifications board; and Larry Ofner of Portland as vice chair of the appraisal standards board. Appointed to the board of trustees were Mary B. McCarter of Portland as vice chair and Brent Palmer of Bellevue as assistant treasure. The Appraisal Foundation is a non-profit organization promoting professionalism in appraisal.

InFocus

Michael D. Yonker has been appointed senior vice president, finance and chief financial officer at InFocus. Yonker most recently held the position of chief financial officer at Wieden and Kennedy. InFocus, based in Wilsonville, Ore., designs and manufactures digital projectors, technologies and services.

Bank of America

Bank of America promoted John S. Williams to senior vice president. Williams has been with the bank since 1975 and most recently was community development manager with government lending products in Seattle.

Bullivant Houser Bailey

Daphne M. Barry has joined the Seattle office of Bullivant Houser Bailey. Barry will serve the firms commercial litigation and construction department practice. She is a former civil engineer with several years experience in civil and structural engineering.

MulvannyG2

MulvannyG2 Architecture recently hired John Siegel as a financial analyst at its Bellevue office and David Huang as a job captain at its Seattle office.

Siegel will be enhancing the management reporting systems, including billing and budgeting, for one of the firm's major retail clients. He has worked in the finance and accounting field for more than eight years and is a certified public accountant and a certified software product manager.

Huang will be involved in conceptual design, programming and final design for a variety of retail and commercial projects. His project experience includes the Space Needle Plaza Level, Sega GameWorks in downtown Seattle, the Symantec Call Center in Springfield, Ore., and the South Terminal Expansion Project at Sea-Tac International Airport.

Roth Hill

Damon Roth has joined Roth Hill Engineering Partners, LLC as a full-time engineer in training designer. Roth has spent the last six months as an engineering intern; his on-the-job training has strengthened Roth’s existing capabilities. This summer, Roth was in the field with the survey crew.

GeoEngineers

GeoEngineers has added Steve Bruce as senior hydrogeologist. Bruce brings 24 years of experience and is well known for his expertise in potable water-supply development and protection, hydrogeologic investigations and water rights. Currently, he is working on projects for Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt, Davis Wright Termaine, the Boy Scouts of America and the Reserve Vineyards & Golf Club.

Kennedy/Jenks

Kennedy/Jenks Consultants announced that Lance D. Geselbracht has joined the Federal Way office as a senior engineer in the industrial services group.

Geselbracht has 18 years of experience as a registered professional engineer with an extensive background in environmental engineering and remedial construction. He has managed major U.S. EPA Superfund remediation projects, served as vice president of an environmental company and founded a remedial construction company. He was lead designer for one of the first air stripping treatment towers used in the Silicon Valley and implemented innovative remedial strategies at hazardous waste sites throughout California. Geselbracht also has extensive management experience.

MacKay & Sposito

MacKay & Sposito, a civil engineering, surveying and planning firm, recently brought on Jon M. Yamashita to the M&S partner group.

Yamashita brings 10 years of land surveying, civil engineering and aerial mapping experience for both public and private sector clients. He will serve as 2002 president-elect for the Land Surveyors’ Association of Washington Lower Columbia Chapter. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in geography from Portland State University.

Founded in 1974, MacKay & Sposito offers civil engineering and a land-use planning department in the Vancouver and Tri-Cities offices.

Reid Middleton

Reid Middleton's support staff has grown with the addition of Rhonda Moon, Vivian Shannon, Tania Juardo, Tia Curry and Kristine Harper-Petereit.

Moon joins Reid Middleton as a project administrator for the airport and waterfront groups. Moon has 20 years of administrative experience and holds an associate’s degree from Highline Community College. Shannon provides administrative support to all personnel. Shannon once served as an administrative specialist for the United States Air Force. Juardo assists with editing contract documents and providing bid phase assistance for Reid Middleton's seven corporate groups. Curry’s role as the marketing assistant will include supporting marketing efforts and providing general group support.

Harper-Petereit joins Reid Middleton as a project administrator for the surface transportation group. Prior to Reid Middleton, she was a visual communications consultant for a multi-media company in Louisiana. Harper-Petereit holds a Bachelor of Arts in social sciences from the University of Washington.

Joon Kim has joined Reid Middleton’s planning group as an entry-level planner. Kim is responsible for providing peak-load land use review services for the city of Seattle Department of Design, Construction and Land Use and planning related research, as well as for preparing and writing professional documents including environmental impact statements.

DCI

DCI Engineers recently added Brian Tucker as a project engineer to its civil department and Lindsey Doyle as assistant in the marketing department.

Tucker will be responsible for the design and engineering of storm water and water quality facilities in compliance with the Endangered Species Act and new federal guidelines. His current projects with DCI Engineers include Kamber Technology Center, a 43,000-square-foot office complex in Bellevue, and McTavish Highlands, a large multi-family site also located in Bellevue. Tucker has six years of experience in civil engineering and has worked on numerous projects throughout the Seattle area. Doyle will provide marketing and public relations functions. She graduated from Washington State University in May 2000.
