The Everett architecture firm Dykeman added architectural interns Steve Lambie and Victorio "Vic" Agustin. Mary Silva joins as an architectural CAD drafter. Lambie is working on a mixed-use housing project to be located in downtown Seattle, Agustin is working on Urban Outfitter stores on the West Coast and Silva is working on Safeway stores in Washington and Alaska.

Tacoma's BLRB Architects added three architecture interns. Greg Lee and Joann Lee are recent graduates of the University of Washington's College of Architecture and Urban Planning. Greg Lee is working on an addition and modernization of Reeves Middle School for the Olympia School District. Joann Lee is working on a facility in Langley called the South Whidbey Commons. Alex Nguyen is also working on Reeves Middle School. BLRB does design for public and private schools.

Cary Kopczynski & Co., a Bellevue structural engineering firm, added Mark Whiteley as a senior project manager. Whiteley has more than 10 years experience on high-rise and mid-rise commercial building projects. He is working on a 33-story multifamily project being constructed in Seattle and a 19-story multifamily project in Anaheim, Calif. Cary Kopczynski provides structural engineering services for buildings and parking structures around the country.

Thornton has seven years of experience and is working on projects for Safeco Insurance and the Washington State Office of the Attorney General. Gensler is a global design, planning and strategic consulting firm. The Seattle office specializes in workplace consulting, and architecture and interior design.

The Portland office of Parametrix recently hired Heather Catron, Jane McFarland and Eric Roth. Catron is division manager for Portland's natural resources and planning group. McFarland will focus on environmental regulation and permitting. Roth will work on Superfund sites.

Berger/Abam Engineers named Arnfinn (Arnie) Rusten president and chief executive officer. The Norway native joined Berger/Abam in 1977 and has since managed projects such as the homeport facility for the U.S. Navy Carrier Battle Group in Everett and the U.S. Coast Guard's Pier 37 rebuild. Rusten will succeed Robert L. Wallace, who retired. Berger/Abam also promoted Elmer Ozolin to vice president to lead the waterfront department, and David Brown to vice president. Brown will continue as Portland branch manager. Berger/Abam's Northwest offices are in Federal Way, Seattle and Portland.

BCE Engineers in Tacoma named mechanical engineer Chris Caffee principal. Sean Roy joined as an electrical project manager, Tina Spann as a mechanical engineer, and Boris Shteinbakh as an electrical engineer. Caffee has been with BCE for nine years as senior mechanical engineer and energy analyst. Roy has 14 years of experience as an electrical designer and is project manager on a 100,000-square-foot junior high. Shteinbakh recently graduated from the University of Washington. Spann is using her military mechanical design experience on Whiteman Air Force Base.

DCI Engineers named principals Elizabeth Jensen and Roger Heeringa co-managers of operations in Bellevue, the company's corporate headquarters. The founding partners of DCI, or D'Amato Conversano, Inc., are Mark D'Amato and Guy Conversano, who will now focus more on corporate management and mentoring. They'll also remain chief structural engineers for select projects. DCI provides civil and structural engineering services.

MulvannyG2 Architecture

Bellevue-based MulvannyG2 Architecture has expanded the 150-person team that designs and remodels Costco buildings: senior designer Barbara Browning, Mexico team project manager Juan Garcini, Southwest team job captain Benjamin Jones and Northwest team architectural technician Geir Mjelde. Browning heads design for Costco warehouses worldwide. Browning has more than 29 years of experience in interior design and architecture, including work as interior design manager at Baylis Architects. Garcini is managing three remodels and a new warehouse. Jones is working on remodels of Costco warehouses in California and Hawaii. Mjelde recently graduated from Washington State University with a master's degree in architecture. He was an intern with the firm for a year.

Bohlin Cywinski Jackson promoted to senior associates Sergei Bischak, Ray Calabro and Steve Mongillo. David Cinamon and Chris Evans were made associates. Bischak is project manager for the Peace Arch U.S. Port of Entry in Blaine. Calabro is project manager for the Center for Health Sciences at the University of Puget Sound. Mongillo manages work on private residences. Cinamon was project architect on the Ballard Library and Neighborhood Service Center. Evans was project architect for Seattle City Hall and project manager for a residence in Hawaii.

MacLeod Reckord Landscape Architects named Jennifer Kiusalaas principal. Kiusalaas joined MacLeod Reckord in 1994 and has worked on projects such as Bremerton Harborside Conference Center, Cape Disappointment State Park and the Millennium Plaza Park in Oregon. MacLeod Reckord focuses on public projects and specializes in landscape architecture, urban design and land planning.

NBBJ

Robert Bruckner has joined NBBJ to help build the firm's science and education practice nationwide. Bruckner's expertise is in design of health care, academic and campus projects. NBBJ focuses on science and education, healthcare, corporate, commercial, retail and transportation projects.

Edelman

Tim Zenk, former campaign chairman for Gov. Christine Gregoire, has joined Edelman as senior vice president of its public affairs practice. Zenk has 25 years of experience in corporate communications and marketing. Edelman also promoted to vice presidents Roger van Oosten, Heidi Hutchinson and Scarlett Foster-Moss. Van Oosten will continue to direct national public affairs programs. Hutchinson will work in consumer practice and Foster-Moss will work on community relations campaigns.

CapitalStream

CapitalStream appointed William (Bill) J. Hughes, Jr. chief operating officer. Hughes will direct product development, quality assurance, and finance and hosting services. CapitalStream provides software to commercial banks and finance companies to gather data, structure deals, analyze credit and monitor accounts. The company's offices are in Seattle and Aliso Viejo, Calif.

Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt

This year Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt has expanded its intellectual property and real estate practice groups, adding four lawyers to its Seattle office: Jennifer Jolley, Kyle Flindt, William "Skip" Fisher and Susan Peterson. Jolley counsels on trademark and copyright matters. Flindt is an expert on patents. Fisher focuses on litigation and Chinese intellectual property law, and Peterson counsels on personal and estate planning
