Outsource Marketing

Cassandra Allen has joined Outsource Marketing to work on strategy, planning, branding and promotional services. Allen has six years of experience in marketing, advertising and public relations, including work in Santiago, Chile, as a winery liaison. Outsource is based in Bellevue.

PRR

PRR, a Seattle-based marketing and public affairs firm, recently promoted Evan Pham to account executive. He has been with the firm for two years, coordinating press events and working on outreach strategy for clients such as Seattle Public Utilities and PCC Natural Markets.

Melodeo

Seattle-based Melodeo named Jim Billmaier chief executive officer. Billmaier was CEO of the digital home entertainment company Digeo. Bob Wise is senior vice president of engineering. He will oversee product development and operations. Co-founders Bill Valenti and Ed Flinchem held these positions, but Valenti will now focus on expanding business to new markets and Flinchem will work on designing new products. Melodeo's software is used to find and acquire ring tones, video and games.

Williams, Kastner & Gibbs

Gregory D. Shelton has joined Williams, Kastner & Gibbs as an of counsel lawyer in the firm's Seattle Office. Shelton was with New York's Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom. He will concentrate on product liability, and commercial and insurance litigation. Williams, Kastner & Gibbs has 90 lawyers in Seattle, Tacoma and Portland.

Schnitzer Steel

Portland company Schnitzer Steel Industries appointed Kelly E. Lang to manage integration of acquired businesses. Lang, who has been acting chief financial officer, is now vice president for asset and operational integration. Gregory J. Witherspoon will be interim chief financial officer. Schnitzer processes about 5.4 million tons of recycled ferrous metals each year, and also sells used auto parts.

Integrated Healthcare Systems

Integrated Healthcare Systems, a pharmacy technology company, appointed Patrick Jensen executive vice president of engineering. Jensen co-founded Integreti Systems, a Seattle medical device and software company that merged with Nashville, Tenn., company Stinger Medical. At Stinger, Jenson held the same role he'll take on at Integrated Healthcare.

Washington Mutual

Washington Mutual named its first vice president Andy Robinson campus operations officer at its San Antonio regional operations center. Washington Mutual picked San Antonio earlier this year as its regional operations center and bought the former MCI San Antonio campus.

Opus Northwest

Tom Parsons has been promoted to senior vice president of Opus Northwest. He will oversee operations in the Northwest. Regional offices in Bellevue and Portland employ more than 70 people in the real estate development, engineering, design, construction and property management divisions. Parsons joined Opus in 1998 as a director of real estate. He has had the dual responsibility of being general manager of the Bellevue office since 1999. He is responsible for development management, land acquisition, financial analysis, financing of projects, and investment sales activities. Opus Northwest is an arm of the Minneapolis-based Opus Group of Companies, with more than $1 billion in annual revenues.

RealSolutions

Joe Nabbefeld has formed RealSolutions, a Seattle-based commercial real estate investment company. He worked the past two years for the Gregory Broderick Smith Real Estate in Seattle. Prior to that he was real estate editor for the Seattle Daily Journal of Commerce. RealSolutions has two multifamily residential projects under way, and will provide real estate and public affairs services.

The Hotel Group

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide has designated the Edmonds-based Hotel Group as a preferred management company for its Sheraton and Four Points brands. This means Starwood will recommend The Hotel Group to franchise hotel owners and developers, according to Doug Dreher, Hotel Group CEO. Established in 1984, The Hotel Group owns and manages 30 properties in 11 states.

Gardner Johnson

Matthew Gardner, principal of the real estate economics company Gardner Johnson LLC, has been appointed to the board of trustees of the Washington State University Center for Real Estate Research. The center's goal is to provide a range of information in easy-to-understand language.

S-J Management

S-J Management — a privately held Seattle real estate investment, brokerage and property management company — sold an office building in Phoenix's Biltmore area for $4.95 million, or $225 per square foot, to GTC II LLC. S-J and an affiliate, Biltmore Lakes Associates LLC, bought the building a year ago for $4.2 million, or $191 per square foot, according to S-J CEO Michael Sauter.

Hendricks & Partners/Pinnacle

Calabasas, Calif.-based Brookwood Place LLC, the new owner of the Brookwood, a 181-unit apartment property, plans to convert the Bothell property to condos, says Kenny Dudunakis of Hendricks & Partners. Dudunakis was the listing agent for the seller, Western National Group of Irvine, Calif., which sold the property for $22 million. Jeff Gilson of Pinnacle in Seattle represented the buyer.

NAIOP

The National Association of Industrial and Office Properties has published "Rules of Thumb for Distribution/Warehouse Facilities Design." The handbook helps developers and owners plan and develop facilities by incorporating best practice methods, according to the group. The focus is facilities 100,000-square-foot and larger. BetterBricks

Sept. 15 is the deadline to enter BetterBricks' Seattle sustainability competition. It's the first time BetterBricks, an initiative of the Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance, is having a Seattle contest. Nominations can be made at betterbricksawards.com.

National Trust for Historic Preservation

The National Trust for Historic Preservation's 2005 national conference will be in Portland Sept. 27 - Oct. 2. More than 2,000 people are expected to attend this year's conference whose theme is "Sustain America — Vision, Economics and Preservation." Holland America Line

Seattle-based Holland America Line promoted Rob Coleman to senior director of field sales and Charles Dunwoody to senior director of national accounts. Coleman was directing the company's eastern division sales. Dunwoody will oversee national accounts, a position he held at the company from 1996-1999. He was also a senior vice president for Cruise Holidays in Minneapolis, Minn. Holland America is a division of Carnival Corp. and has a fleet of 13 ships.

Merritt Apple Farm

Skagit Valley apple growers Rose and Alan Merritt expect to open Rosabella's bakery this month to make and sell baked goods. The 70-acre Merritt Apple Farm has been in business in Bow for 35 years. The couple spent six years visiting other farms in the United States and Canada to see how the businesses were working.

Harris HealthTrends

King County recently picked Toledo, Ohio-based company Harris HealthTrends to survey its employees and help them improve nutrition and exercise. County officials say employee health care costs are projected to double to $300 million by 2012. Harris HealthTrends says its science-based products focus on behavioral psychology. Employees who complete the program would be eligible for lower out-of-pocket health care expenses.
