Colliers International promoted four brokers in the Puget Sound region. Eastside specialists Tim Chin and Mike Schreck have been named senior vice presidents. They are located in the Bellevue office. Joe Levin, who specializes in multifamily in Puget Sound, has been named vice president. Andrew Hitchcock, a Kent Valley specialist, has been promoted to associate vice president. They are located in the Seattle office. Colliers also hired five new associates. Jeff Bare, formerly of Medallion Properties, will focus on office and mixed-use leasing in the South Sound and brings more than eight years of commercial real estate experience. He is in the Tacoma office. Troy Stark, who spent eight years as an appraiser, will specialize in Kent Valley and Pierce County industrial space. He is in the Seattle office. Tish Johnson brings 30 years of experience in the printing industry. She will focus on industrial sales in South King County and work in the Seattle office. James Myers is a new associate in the Olympia office and will be specializing in retail in Thurston and Pierce counties. He was with Mercedes Benz of Tacoma. Brian Deller is a recent Washington State University graduate and will specialize in Eastside office and Northend office and industrial, based in the Bellevue office.

Weyerhaeuser

Weyerhaeuser Co. named Larry Burrows, 55, president and chief executive officer of Weyerhaeuser Real Estate Co. effective March 31. He succeeds Daniel S. Fulton who became president of Weyerhaeuser Co. in December. Burrows will report directly to Fulton and will be a member of the senior management team. He will oversee five local real estate companies and the builder financing operation. Burrows is president of Winchester Homes, Weyerhaeuser's home building operation in the Washington, D.C., area.

BDA looks at growth in downtown Bellevue

The first of a three-part series on growth trends in downtown Bellevue will be held March 25. The Bellevue Downtown Association is sponsoring the series, which will examine growth trends and their implications for the community. Discussions will focus on current and planned projects, sales and leasing, mobility, retail and quality of life. Gary Guenther of GVA Kidder Mathews and Matthew Gardner of Gardner-Johnson will speak at the first session. It will be at the Bellevue Club, 11200 S.E. Sixth St.. Washington Mutual

The Washington Mutual Leadership Center at Cedarbrook hired Jeff Dolan as director of food and beverage, and Ivan Balbuena as assistant food and beverages manager. Dolan worked in Minneapolis at Cue at the Guthrie Theater. Balbuena was general manager of Specialty's Cafe and Bakery in Bellevue. The center is in SeaTac.

Washington State University

Birgitte Ahring is joining Washington State University as the director of the Center for Bioproducts and Bioenergy and as the Battelle Distinguished Professor, based at WSU Tri-Cities. Ahring is a microbiologist who lives in Denmark. The center will focus on the conversion of biomass into bioproducts and biofuels. Ahring is also the founder and CEO of BioGasol.

U.S. Small Business Administration

The U.S. Small Business Administration's Seattle District office said its 2008 Washington State Small Business Persons of the Year are Rusty George, owner and principal, and De Meyers, principal, of Rusty George Creative. Rusty George Creative is a graphic design and advertising agency in downtown Tacoma. George and Meyers will compete with 53 other winners from across the country for the National Small Business Person of the Year award.

Ralph Martin joined Baylis Architects as project architect. Martin has more than 20 years of design experience in corporate headquarters, high rise and mixed-use projects. He is currently working on the Stone Way Village mixed-use project. Baylis also hired Chris Jimenez. Jimenez comes from the Landry Design Group in Los Angeles, where he worked on custom high-end residential projects. He is working on several high-end residential projects on the Eastside. Baylis also promoted Sherry Silva to office manager. Silva has more than 20 years of experience in the A/E industry and has 15 years of management experience. She has worked for Baylis for one year.

EHS Design hired two new employees: Rod Hammer as project manager and Jean Brendecke as a marketing assistant. Hammer has 26 years of experience, and will work on strategic master planning for the city of Seattle. He returns to EHS Design after spending 10 years in New York working on interior design and project management for FXFOWLE Architects and Hillier Architecture. His work there included projects for Lincoln Center, the Bronx Zoo, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority and Merrill Lynch. Brendecke previously worked at Gresham and Beach Architects in Arizona and Garry Struthers Associates in Bellevue, and was most recently the house manager and volunteer coordinator at the Kirkland Performance Center.

The Driftmier Architects of Redmond hired Lee Driftmier as an intern architect. Driftmier is a recent graduate of Yale University and is working on the Lake Whatcom Water and Sewer District headquarters and the Snohomish County PUD Credit Union. He is the son of president and principal Rick Driftmier.

BHC Consultants hired Jordan Zier as a staff engineer. Zier is a registered engineer-in-training and is providing engineering support on projects for the Southwest Suburban Sewer District and the city of Snohomish.

Alexander is a senior electrical designer with 3-D expertise, and has more than 14 years of experience. LCA also retained Don Pontsler as a part-time consulting engineer. Pontsler is a utility expert with more than 30 years of experience working at Tacoma Power and Light and Puget Sound Energy. Theresa Lane was hired as office manager. Lane takes care of the books and scheduling, and provides assistance on engineering projects.

Stewart joined GGN in 2006 and is project manager for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation

Publishing company Premier Media Group made a series of new hires and promotions, due to the growth of 425 Magazine. Heather Stajgr was promoted to creative director. Rosie Koponen was promoted from office assistant to client service coordinator. Jennifer Mitchell is marketing coordinator. Shyla Clark is a staff writer.

Bankruptcy and estate planning lawyer Travis A. Gagnier and the law firm of deMers and Gagnier have moved their offices to the Campus Pointe Office Development. The new address is 33507 Ninth Ave. S., Building F, Federal Way.

AdReady

Seattle-based AdReady, a self-service online advertising company, hired Mark Feldman as senior vice president of sales and business development, and Saleel Sathe as vice president for product management. Feldman was vice president of network development at AOL. Sathe was director of product management for Microsoft's adCenter.
