American College of Trial Lawyers

Timothy J. Parker, a shareholder of law firm Carney Badley Spellman, has become a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. There are about 5,500 members of the association in the U.S. and Canada. Parker has practiced law in Washington for 30 years.

Salish Lodge & Spa

The Salish Lodge & Spa near Snoqualmie hired Justin Sledge as executive chef. Roy Breiman, former executive chef since 2003, will now be culinary director. Sledge has 15 years of culinary experience and was executive chef at the 35th Street Bistro and The Daily Grill in Seattle.

Small Business Administration

The U.S. Small Business Administration's Seattle District Office has named Brad Benner, owner of the X-Bar in Seattle, as the 2008 Washington State & Region 10 Young Entrepreneur of the Year. X-Bar is an IT consulting and support business. The SBA also named Thomas Wittmann and Brian Coughren, president and vice-president respectively of Seattle Safety, as the small business exporters of the year. Seattle Safety is an engineering design, production and installation supplier of crash safety sleds.

Tideworks Technology

Seattle-based Tideworks Technology, a provider of full-service terminal management and planning software solutions, has opened a regional representative office in Singapore and hired Thiagu Goundan to act as regional director, Asia Pacific region. Goundan has been with Tideworks for eight years.

Lorig

Lorig hired Tory Laughlin Taylor as a new principal in project management. Laughlin Taylor comes to Lorig with 25 years of experience in historic preservation, urban revitalization, community development and multi-family housing development. She has been developing affordable housing and urban mixed-use projects since 1991 for both non-profit and market-sector organizations in the Puget Sound area and Washington, D.C.

360 Modern

360 Modern, a Seattle-based real estate consortium that specializes in modern real estate, hired real estate agent Mary Clure, an expert in San Juan Island real estate, to work in that market. There are a number of island homes designed by modernist architects such as Roland Terry, Paul Hayden Kirk and Wendell Lovett. There has also been a shift to modern designs in new projects. Clure is a broker and co-owner of Orcas Island Realty.

GVA Kidder Mathews

Joan Arnold has joined the Tacoma office of GVA Kidder Mathews as an appraiser and consultant. She is a former senior review appraiser for NewTower Valuation, and brings over 23 years of experience in the analysis and appraisal of commercial and residential property.

Coldwell Banker

Coldwell Banker Bain promoted Dick Fulton to executive vice president. He has been a managing broker at Coldwell Banker Bain for 21 years, most recently in the Lake Union and Magnolia offices. Fulton will be responsible for broker and branch development at the Everett, Lynnwood/Edmonds, Kirkland, Duvall/Monroe, Redmond, Issaquah, Kent Station, Puyallup, Mercer Island and Gig Harbor offices. Three managing brokers are leading new offices. John Deely will move from the Mercer Island office to lead the Lake Union and Magnolia offices. EJ Bowlds will move from the Issaquah office to lead the Mercer Island office and Tim McCanta will move from his position co-leading the Bellevue Way office to lead the Issaquah office.

REDEFAS Foundation

The REDEFAS Foundation said Robert Caro will be heading up the group's informational and public campaign. Caro has worked in the mortgage industry for 11 years. REDEFAS collects a small donation during a real estate transaction and distributes it quarterly to approved feeding programs, such as Silverdale's Children of the Nations (COTN). COTN was the recipient of 96 percent of funds collected in fourth quarter of 2007. For more information see http://www.redefas.org.

Stellar Holdings

Stellar Holdings, a private international real estate investment and development firm headquartered in Seattle, promoted Joshua Curtis to real estate project manager and Sandra Dalin to controller. Curtis will be responsible for project evaluation, monitoring and strategy development in Seattle and Poland. He will also continue to oversee market, feasibility and financial analysis. Dalin will be responsible for accounting, financial analysis and financial reporting. Stellar is the primary investor for Thornton Place, a six-acre mixed-use property near Northgate Mall.

CREW career day for young women

CREW Seattle (Commercial Real Estate Women), an organization committed to advancing the success of women in commercial real estate, is hosting its fourth annual CREW Careers program which encourages girls from local non-profit groups — the YWCA, Powerful Voices and ACE Mentoring of Washington — to learn about careers in real estate. Seattle female commercial real estate professionals — including a vice president of a development company, a senior title officer and a project scientist — will speak to the girls at the offices of Sellen Construction, 277 Westlake Ave N. on Friday, April 4, starting at 9 a.m. For more information see http://www.crewseattle.org

The National Association of Industrial and Office Properties' Night of the Stars Committee is seeking nominations for awards and projects completed between June 2007 and August 2008. Here are the categories: Mixed Use Development of the Year, Office Development of the Year, Industrial Development of the Year, Redevelopment/Renovation of the Year, Sustainable Development of the Year, Innovation Project of the Year, Deal of The Year, Urban Highrise Residential Project of the Year, Public Project of the Year, Office Developer of the Year and Industrial Developer of the Year.
