Williams Kastner

Law firm Williams Kastner hired Naoko Inoue Shatz to its Seattle office as of counsel. Shatz was an associate at Perkins Coie before establishing her own firm, Shatz Law Group, where her clients included Japanese entities with business interests in the United States and U.S. companies with interests in Japan.

KeyBank

KeyBank is opening new branches in Belltown and Upper Queen Anne Hill. The Belltown office, at 2500 First Ave. facing El Gaucho, has opened and will celebrate its grand opening the week of Oct. 19. The Upper Queen Anne office, at 2105 Queen Anne Ave. N., will hold a grand opening the week of Oct. 26.

Seattle Symphony

Music Director Gerard Schwarz has named British violinist Emma McGrath associate concertmaster with the Seattle Symphony. McGrath was recently assistant concertmaster at the Colorado Symphony Orchestra.

Clarion Seattle Airport Hotel

Choice Hotels International gave awards to Tina Gatewood and Perry Wall of the Clarion Seattle Airport Hotel. Gatewood received the Staff Service Excellence Award and Wall received the General Manager Service Excellence Award.

Arnerich Massena

Arnerich Massena, a Portland-based independent investment advisory firm, promoted Chris Abbruzzese to director of research and analytics, and director of alternative investments. Abbruzzese was a senior analyst at the company and previously worked at JP Morgan Chase.

Mines Management

Mines Management of Spokane hired Michael Rasmussen as vice president of exploration. Rasmussen has 25 years of experience in mining and exploration in the United States, Canada and Mexico. He was a consulting geologist with Mines Management during the past year and assisted with geologic evaluations.

Gaston Bay Development, Pacific Continental Realty and CBRE said Attachmate signed a lease for new office space in a LEED gold office building on the Bellingham waterfront at 2925 Roeder Ave. The building is a former warehouse. The renovation was designed by Christensen Design Management and constructed by Franklin Corp.

NAIOP fall seminar Oct. 21

The NAIOP October breakfast meeting and fall seminar will be held Oct. 21 at the Westin Seattle starting at 7:15 a.m. with registration and networking. There will be three seminar sessions. Session 1 is “The S Factor: An overview of how developers and permitting authorities are leveraging sustainability to build neighborhoods.” Session 2 is “Case Study of Sustainabile Development of an Existing Building: Willows Development.” Session 3 is “Case Study of Sustainable Development of a new building: Terry Westlake Building.” The sessions run from 8 a.m. to noon. SMBA meeting Oct. 20

The Seattle Mortgage Brokers Association will meet Tuesday, Oct. 20, at Broadmoor Golf Club with J. Lennox Scott of John L. Scott Real Estate as the speaker. John L. Scott Builder Breakfast

The 2009 John L. Scott Builder Breakfast will be held Friday, Nov. 6, at the Bellevue Club Hotel from 7 to 9 a.m. The speaker will be Bank of America Senior Vice President and former NAR chief economist Carter Murdoch on economic conditions now and in 2010. Pioneer Human Services

Pioneer Human Services, a Seattle-based nonprofit social-enterprise organization, was honored for expanding affordable housing. Marla Gese and Martha Martin of Pioneer accepted the Friend of Housing Organizational Achievement Award from the Washington State Housing Finance Commission. Pioneer has provided housing for ex-offender and at-risk populations since 1963, and has expanded to Auburn, Bellingham, Spokane and Tacoma, with 675 units in 21 properties. Other enterprises include cafés, institutional food, sheet metal fabrication, machining, food distribution and contract packaging.
