Electronic Business Machines

Electronic Business Machines, a document solutions provider, hired Michael Hall as sales manager. Hall has been in the office products and technology industry for over 25 years. Most of that time was spent with Canon USA as a strategic account executive, sales manager and district sales manager.

Crowley Maritime

Crowley Maritime Corp. announced Rockwell Smith, Crowley's senior vice president and general manager based in Seattle, will assume responsibility for all of Crowley's marine contract services domestically and internationally. He will continue to oversee Alaska operations, as well as West Coast harbor services. Smith joined Crowley almost 30 years ago.

Wing Luke Asian Museum

The Wing Luke Asian Museum has expanded its name to the Wing Luke Museum of the Asian Pacific American Experience and added a nickname: The Wing. The organization says the nickname is quicker to say and use on materials, while the full name reinforces the museum's mission and expands what the word Asian means for the museum.

Landau Associates

Landau Associates promoted Dennis Stettler to the newly created post of director of engineering, Erfan Nezami to project engineer and Brett Borgeson to senior staff scientist. Stettler was hired in 1989. He has 30 years of geotechnical engineering experience. He is responsible for geotechnical analysis and engineering design of a number of transportation, infrastructure, and site development projects in the Pacific Northwest. Nezami has been a geotechnical engineer in the Edmonds office since 2007. He has performed engineering analysis and design of deep foundation, retaining walls, lateral earth pressures, and static and seismic stability. He is working on the WSDOT SR520 pontoon construction. Borgeson joined the Portland office in 2006. He has done site assessments, groundwater monitoring, soil and sediment investigations, and remediation system construction. He is working on the Port of Newport sediment sampling/investigation. Landau provides environmental and geotechnical engineering and natural resource services in six Pacific Northwest offices.

ZGF Architects

ZGF Architects added nine employees, four of whom are former “ZGF-ers,” the firm said. The additions bring the Seattle office headcount to 99. Todd Stine has returned to ZGF as a technical design principal. He will play a lead role on select projects and oversee technical design quality on all projects in the Seattle office. He has 25 years in integrated sustainable technical design. From 1990-2004 at ZGF, Stine was lead technical designer on projects that include the Fourth & Madison Tower and Millennium Tower. Most recently he was a principal at Ruffcorn Mott Hinthorne Stine Architects. Bertha Martinez was hired as associate partner and senior project manager working on the Washington State University Global Animal Health project. At ZGF from 1988-2006 her projects included the Safeco Insurance Co. Campus in Redmond and University District expansion in Seattle. She most recently was project manager/architect at NBBJ. Masaru Haruyama was hired as associate partner and project designer, and is working on the Seattle Children's Hospital expansion. While at ZGF from 1999-2004 Masaru's projects included the Fourth & Madison Tower and Washington State University Plant Biosciences Building. He most recently was at NBBJ. Eric Ritchey was hired as a senior project architect. He is working on Nintendo of America headquarters office building and University of Washington Molecular Engineering Building. At ZGF from 1997-2005, he most recently was at Ruffcorn Mott Hinthorne Stine Architects as a senior architect. Gabriel Hanson joined the firm as a staff designer. He is working on the University of Minnesota Biomedical Discovery District project. He specializes in integrated energy-based design and knows 3D visualization and rendering. He was previously at Weber Thompson as a senior project designer. Kari Thorsen joined ZGF as an interior designer. Thorsen is working on projects for Franciscan Health System and renovations at Providence Everett Medical Center. Previously, she was an interior designer at Callison. Whitney Hall was hired as a staff designer. She is working on the University of Minnesota Physics and Nanotechnology Building and the UW Molecular Engineering Building. She previously was at Schacht Aslani Architects as a marketing coordinator. Huyen Hoang was hired as a staff designer. She is working on health care projects. Previously, she was at Olson Kundig Architects. Emily Craig joined ZGF as an intern and is working on Seattle Children's expansion. ZGF does architecture, planning and interior design, with offices in Seattle, Portland, New York, Los Angeles and Washington, D.C.

Aegis Engineering

Aegis Engineering hired Carrie Krause as a senior fire protection engineer. She has nearly 20 years in engineering consulting. She has experience in fire protection system design with an emphasis on fire suppression systems, HVAC system design for commercial, industrial and institutional facilities, plumbing and piping design, and systems modeling for energy consumption analysis. Aegis specializes in fire protection engineering and building code consulting.

The Portico Group

Dean Alker and Joseph Ferry, formerly co-owners of Primedia Group, have joined The Portico Group as senior design visualization specialists. They have 27 years of combined experience, and do 3D visualization and technology for architectural design, renderings, virtual tour animation, environmental visual analysis and print-ready imagery. They have produced renderings and animations for projects in the Seattle area, Sun Valley, Las Vegas, Hong Kong, Korea and Bermuda. The Portico Group is an interdisciplinary firm comprised of architects, landscape architects and exhibit designers, specializing in spaces for community and informal education.

Eastside Commercial Bank named Harve Menkens interim president. Menkens has 26 years of experience in banking and recently held executive positions with Foundation Bank and Umpqua Bank. Founded in 2002, Eastside Commercial Bank is a full-service national bank.

GA Creative

Bellevue-based GA Creative, an integrated branding and advertising agency, hired Jamie Walters as a copywriter. Her work includes writing for companies in the software, health care, consumer electronics and green technology industries.

Dorsey & Whitney

International law firm Dorsey & Whitney hired William Perry as a partner in the Seattle office's Trial Department. He has experience representing foreign exporters, U.S. importers and U.S. end users in international trade cases. Perry was an income owner at Garvey Schubert & Barer.

Jackson Dean Construction

Miller
Seattle's Jackson Dean Construction hired Melanie Miller as a contracts/accounting clerk. Miller has four years of subcontractor office experience and two years of experience at an architectural firm, both in Chicago. She was previously employed at Sierra Construction for three years. Jackson Dean operates in 40 states and specializes in office buildings, retail, restaurants, warehouses, medical facilities, hotels and food plants.

Gray Lumber Co.

Yontz Miller has become an outside sales representative for residential products at Gray Lumber Co. of Tacoma. The company also hired Jim O'Neal as a wholesale lumber broker and Sarah Ortega in custom window and door sales. Miller has been with the company for 11 years, pushing a broom at first, then working in the yard for five years, followed by 1.5 years in hardware counter sales and more than four years with inside counter sales. He holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Washington's Milgard School of Business. O'Neal began his lumber career in 1988 as an outside sales representative, and specializes in mill-direct sales to infrastructure contractors. Ortega has 12 years of window experience, starting in 1998 on the production floor with Milgard Manufacturing and moving into that firm's sales team in 2003.

Dunkin & Bush

Kirkland-based Dunkin & Bush received national certification as a women's business enterprise by the Women's Business Enterprise National Council. The certification standards included an in-depth review of the business and site inspection. Dunkin & Bush offers industrial services such as coatings and linings, lead abatement, fireproofing, consulting and inspection.

Oles Morrison Rinker & Baker

Law firm Oles Morrison Rinker & Baker of Seattle joined the Council of Electri International — The Foundation for Electrical Construction. Oles joined at the founder level, which requires a minimum $100,000 donation. An Oles press release said the firm decided to make the gift because it is committed to contractor education, which the foundation provides to the electrical industry.
