Katheryn Bradley and Jacob Downs have joined Lane Powell as attorneys in the Labor and Employment Practice Group, and Sarah Swale has been appointed chair of the Wage and Hour Practice Group. Bradley was a partner at Foster Pepper. Downs was an associate attorney at Williams Kastner. Swale focuses on employment litigation and counseling.
King County Council confirmed Christie True to lead the Department of Natural Resources and Parks, and Bill Kehoe to serve as chief information officer. True is a 25-year veteran of King County and Metro who previously led the Wastewater Treatment Division. Kehoe was chief information officer of the Washington State Department of Licensing.
Van Ness Feldman said Jim Curry has joined the firm as an associate attorney. He was with the U.S. Department of Transportation's Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration focusing on pipeline safety. Van Ness Feldman has offices in Washington, D.C., and Seattle. It focuses on law and policy relating to power, environmental issues, clean tech, infrastructure, natural resources and transportation.

Bellevue-based Core Business Bank added four team members to its staff. They are Varonica Ragan as chief financial officer, Sheri Pena as vice president and manager of client services, Angelina Yokoyama as assistant vice president, loan operations manager, and Garret Rogers as assistant vice president, relationship manager.
Dave Ross, talk show host and radio commentor at News Talk 97.3 KIRO FM, will receive the Association for Women in Communications' Communicator of the Year Award. The award will be presented Oct. 27. Ross has been with KIRO Radio for more than 30 years, joining the station in 1978 as a news anchor.
AmericanWest Bancorporation's wholly owned subsidiary, AmericanWest Bank of Spokane, hired Joseph Marchese as executive vice president and chief credit officer. Marchese has 25 years of lending experience in commercial banks. He was recently chief credit officer for Illinois-based Midland States Bancorp.
Beaverton, Ore.-based First Tech Credit Union opened its first branch in downtown Seattle at 555 Terry Ave. N., in South Lake Union. First Tech now has five branches in Seattle and a total of 18 branches in Oregon and Washington.


Hines' Fifth & Bell, a six-story office building in Seattle, made the Building Owners and Managers Association International's quarterly list of buildings that excel in operations and management. BOMA developed the program last year to recognize commercial properties on various factors, include security, energy use and tenant relations. Fifth & Bell was the only Puget Sound-area property to make the third quarter list.
