The Seattle Symphony named orchestra and recording industry executive Simon Woods its new executive director. He recently worked with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra as chief executive, and has also worked with the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, The Philadelphia Orchestra and as a record producer with EMI Classics. Woods replaces Interim Executive Director Mark McCampbell.
The Seattle Humane Society has elected new board officers. The new board chair is John Corby of Kirkland, a financial services executive and a board member since 2006. Vice-chairs are Seattle residents Michele Vivona, senior vice president of Global Web Strategy for LexisNexis, and Mary Kay Wright, an investment officer of Wells Fargo Advisors. The new treasurer is Chris Falco of Sammamish, partner and shareholder of Falco-Sult & Co. The new secretary is James Linardos of Seattle, senior vice president of Wells Fargo Bank.
Attorney General Rob McKenna announced Gary Ikeda, former senior legal counsel for Seattle Public Schools and a former deputy attorney general, will lead the Attorney General's University of Washington Division. Ikeda has 34 years of legal experience in the public and private sectors. He recently represented The Hope Heart Institute.

Weyerhaeuser announced Sara Kendall has assumed the role of vice president — corporate affairs and sustainability. Kendall succeeds Ernesta Ballard, senior vice president — corporate affairs, who is retiring. Kendall joined Weyerhaeuser in 1989. She was recently vice president — environment, health and safety, and sustainability.
Women Business Owners named Seattle's Susan Kaufman of Serafina and Cicchetti restaurants the 2010 Nellie Cashman Woman Business Owner of the Year. Susan Huenefeld of Accents et cetera Gift Baskets won the WBO Excellence Award. The Nellie Cashman recognizes women business owners for vision, perseverance and leadership.
ExactTarget, a global provider of on-demand e-mail marketing and interactive marketing solutions, launched its Pacific Northwest Services Center in Bellevue to support programs for Microsoft and Expedia, among other clients. Michael Wasyluka will lead the office as vice president, global accounts. He has worked at ExactTarget since 2008.
Claudia Balducci is the new director of King County's Department of Adult and Juvenile Detention. Balducci has been with the county since 1999, most recently as settlement coordinator with the U.S. Department of Justice involving improvements to inmate care at the King County Jail. She previously served at the Department of Adult and Juvenile Detention as operations manager, regional jail coordinator and as a labor negotiator.
