San Francisco-based law firm Sedgwick is opening an office in Seattle, the first in the Northwest and 14th globally. The office will be led by Christopher Marks, who joined the Complex Litigation Division. Marks will handle product liability and commercial litigation matters.
The Washington Tourism Alliance named Suzanne Fletcher as its first executive director, and also named its inaugural board of directors. Fletcher is a 30-year tourism industry veteran who was named one of the 25 Most Influential Women in the Travel Industry in 2008 by Forbes. She worked for Concur Technologies in Redmond where she was Europe, Middle East and Africa director of industry relations, based in Prague. The board has 20 members including Jane Kilburn of the Port of Seattle and Andy Olsen of Columbia Hospitality. The WTA was formed due to the closure of the state tourism office. WTA is now the state's official tourism marketing organization.
Bellevue-based HRnovations, a human resources services firm, launched HRfit, a staffing business focused on interim and direct hire human resources placements.
The Institute for Systems Biology hired Sissy Walsh Bouchard as vice president of development. Walsh Bouchard will direct fundraising programs as a member of the senior management team. She worked for the University of Washington since 2003.

Sullivan's Steakhouse hired Ken Slack as executive chef in downtown Seattle. Slack has worked for Sullivan's Steakhouse in the past, and previously opened and sold The Cellar Bistro on Capitol Hill.
Kirkland-based Pendrell Corp., formerly ICO Global Communications Limited, made a series of new hires. Robert Mechaley is chief scientist. Timothy Dozois is corporate counsel and corporate secretary. Mark Fanning is chief people officer. Benjamin Wolff, chief executive officer, and R. Gerard Salemme, chief strategy officer, resigned from their positions with Eagle River, the company's largest shareholder, to focus on Pendrell.
North Cascades Institute, a conservation nonprofit based in Skagit and Whatcom counties, received a Certificate for Outstanding Partnership Achievement from the National Park Service. The award honors the institute's 25 years of environmental work.

Jones Lang LaSalle promoted Conan Lee to senior vice president. Lee, who joined the Seattle office in 2006, focuses on office tenant representation, and assists tenants and landlords with data centers.

Cory A. Naber joined NAI Puget Sound Properties in Tacoma. His focus is tenant representation, leasing and industrial sales in Pierce County. He was with Kidder Mathews.

Erik Hand is the new president of Windermere Mortgage Services. He was with John L. Scott's in-house lending division, Response Mortgage. Seattle-based Windermere Mortgage Services has offices in Washington and Oregon.
Seattle-based DocuSign, an electronic signature network, is offering a free edition of DocuSign for Realtors. The company offers up to five deals per month and unlimited signers at no charge.
The Benaroya Co. and its partners selected Lee Technologies for a two-year contract to operate and maintain the 300,000-square-foot South Hill Data Center in Puyallup. Lee is a Schneider Electric company and manages some of the world's largest data centers, with a focus on saving energy and money. South Hill is certified LEED gold. It is owned by BCC Puyallup LLC, a collaboration of Benaroya, Real Property Investors and O'Keefe companies.
The International Council of Shopping Centers' Pacific Northwest Idea Exchange is Aug. 25-26 at the Coeur D'Alene Resort in Idaho. Speakers include Glenn E. Crellin of Washington State University's Center for Real Estate Research and Rick Parks of TRF Pacific in Seattle. Retailers will talk about selecting sites for new stores. Register at icsc.org.
