Seattle law firm Hillis Clark Martin & Peterson has added the entire firm of Gottlieb Fisher: principals Dan Gottlieb and Irene Fisher, and senior attorney Maude Anderson. Attorney Andy Rigel also joins the firm from Lane Powell.
Seattle Central Community College named Michael (Duff) McKagan, alumnus and former bassist for the band Guns N'Roses, as the 2013 Distinguished Alumni of the Year. Camila Sigelmann and Jay McLean-Riggs received the Faculty of Excellence award.


Cushman & Wakefield | Commerce has added Sean Barnes as a senior director and Trevor Youngren as a director in the Brokerage Services Group. Barnes will specialize in office brokerage and tenant representation. Youngren will focus on tenant representation for technology and startup companies in the Puget Sound area. Barnes was a senior vice president with Jones Lang LaSalle and Staubach Co. for 13 years. Youngren was with Jones Lang LaSalle for five years as a senior associate. Cushman & Wakefield | Commerce is a member of the Cushman & Wakefield Alliance, which is based in Salt Lake City and has offices in Washington, Utah, Nevada and Idaho.
The Washington chapter of NAIOP will explore “Seattle's first neighborhood,” Pioneer Square, on its annual property tour starting at 11 a.m. July 25 at HUB Seattle, 220 Second Ave. S. There will be a panel discussion with residents, business owners and community leaders from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., followed by a walking tour that focuses on redeveloped buildings and alleys that have been turned into pedestrian pathways. Weber Thompson Senior Principal Blaine Weber will lead an all-day multifamily development conference Sept. 27 sponsored by The Seminar Group. The event will begin at 9 a.m. but the location is still being determined. Nine speakers are lined up including Jim Atkins of Harbor Urban, James Bach, vice president at CBRE Capital Markets, land use attorney John C. Seattle-based law firm Cairncross & Hempelmann hired Mike Moyer as a new partner. Moyer has worked in the clean technology sector representing clean technology and sustainable industry companies, and most recently was a partner in the corporate group of Dorsey & Whitney.
Washington Policy Center hired Lisa Shin as director of communications and marketing. Shin has managed marketing projects for Microsoft, Expedia and Amazon, and was executive director of the King County Republican Party. Washington Policy Center advocates for public policy based on free-market solutions.
Seattle City Council confirmed Pierce Murphy as director of the Office of Professional Accountability, which investigates complaints about police misconduct in the Seattle Police Department.


SvR Design Co. appointed Kathryn (Kathy) Gwilym and Nate Cormier as principals, and Steve Burke, Greg Giraldo, Amalia Leighton and Mark Davies as directors. Gwilym has been with SvR for more than 16 years and is the technical lead. She led engineering on High Point's green stormwater infrastructure and is working on Barton Basin in West Seattle. Cormier led design for Bell Street Park — now under construction in Seattle — and is leading the public areas and infrastructure design for Yesler Terrace. Seattle-based SvR offers civil engineering, landscape architecture, planning and environmental restoration services.










ZGF Architects hired 10 people in the Seattle office, bringing the headcount there to 115. Vikram Sami was hired as an architect and associate partner, Alan Locke as an architect and associate, Laura Squillace, Marty Brennan and Chris Hellstern as architects, Melissa Balestri as a specification writer, Rachel Spence as a graphic designer, Sally Tsang as an architectural intern, Mckenzie Baird as a marketing intern and Matt Eccleston as an architectural staff member. Sami has more than 15 years of experience on public and private projects. He specializes in energy use and environmental studies, and has done sustainable building research and participated in USGBC certification reviews. Locke previously worked for Mack Scogin Merrill Elam Architects in Atlanta. His work includes the Gates Center for Computer Science and Hillman Center for Future Generation Technologies at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. Squillace specializes in ecological and community design, and has five years of experience as a LEED consultant and architectural illustrator. Previously, she was lead designer and project manager at Odin's Hammer. Brennan specializes in daylighting computation and analysis, visual comfort analysis, high dynamic range photography, and energy benchmarking. He previously worked at Perkins + Will. Hellstern has seven years at KMD Architects, with projects that include Bertschi School's Living Building. Balestri has worked at Gensler and IBI Building Consultants, for a remodeling contractor, and as a model maker and drafter for an architecture firm. Spence will work with the marketing team. Previously she was a contract designer for LBVD in Atlanta and has a background in branding, packaging and publication design. Tsang interned at Arup's Hong Kong office and at Ellumus in Bellevue. She holds a bachelor's in architecture from the University of Washington. Baird is pursuing a bachelor's in business marketing from Washington State University. Eccleston holds a bachelor of architecture from Oklahoma State University and was a teaching assistant at its D.W.R. School of Architecture. ZGF provides architecture, planning and interior design.
Professional Service Industries added Derek Noyes to the manager-in-training program in the Tacoma office under the mentorship of Vice President Scott Palmer. Noyes holds a bachelor's in civil engineering from Brigham Young University. The firm provides environmental engineering and testing. It is headquartered in Oakbrook Terrace, Ill.
The Blueline Group hired Nick Sondergaard as a construction inspector/engineer-in-training. Sondergaard holds a bachelor's in civil engineering from Washington State University. He will work on public works projects. Blueline provides civil engineering and land use planning.
