Washington State University

Gonzales

Mary Jo Gonzales, a senior administrator with the University of Rhode Island, is the new vice president for student affairs at Washington State University. Gonzales will be responsible for non-curricular aspects of student life.





Washington Student Achievement Council

Michael P. Meotti was appointed executive director of Washington Student Achievement Council by Governor Jay Inslee. He fills a vacancy resulting from the retirement of Dr. Gene Sharratt, the previous executive director. Meotti will assume his new role on Feb. 8. The council administers programs that help people attend college and advocates for higher education.

Northwest African American Museum

Ollee

The Northwest African American Museum named Dr. Mildred W. Ollee, former president of Seattle Central Community College, its interim executive director. She was president from 2003 to 2010, serving 23,000 students a year and managing a budget of over $80 million. Ollee also was president at Portland Community College.





KMS Financial Services

KMS Financial Services, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Ladenburg Thalmann Financial Services, said Eric Westberg will become chairman and CEO; Tracy “Ace” Forsythe will become president and chief legal officer; and Aileen G. Krohn will become executive vice president. KMS is a Seattle-based broker-dealer and investment advisory firm. Westberg succeeds Mark Hamby, who is retiring after 33 years with KMS.

Homestead Community Land Trust

Set to celebrate its 25 anniversary next year, the nonprofit facilitator of affordable housing is also seeking four new board members. They will be elected at Homestead's annual meeting (5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29 at the Youngstown Cultural Arts Center, 4408 Delridge Way S.W.) Active in Delridge, Columbia City and other neighborhoods, Homestead counsels about 300 prospective homebuyers a year, provides grants and loans, develops new homes with private partners and preserves affordable housing stock by keeping them in a restricted trust. That trust now includes 211 homes, which can only be resold to buyers at or below 80 perent of area median income; Homestead maintains ownership of the land. TOD in Tacoma

The city of Tacoma announced that it's one of five U.S. cities to be competitively awarded with ground technical assistance supporting transit-oriented development (TOD), improving access to public transportation, and building new economic opportunities and pathways to employment for local communities. Guidance and resources will be provided by the Federal Transit Administration and Smart Growth America, which the city will use to help in the development of the Hilltop neighborhood. For what it calls the the Links to Opportunity Project, Tacoma previously received a $2 million grant from the FTA to plan for transit and economic development along the Tacoma Link Expansion corridor. (Hilltop is scheduled to have a light-rail station in 2022, which will connect to Seattle in 2030.) In a statement, mayor Marilyn Strickland said, “Smart growth strategies that make Tacoma an even better place to live and work, a solid transportation system, economic development – these things are all connected.”

The categories and honorees include the following: Young Leader of the Year, Dane Larsen of CBRE; Supplier of the Year, Legacy Group; Presenter of the Year, Roberto Yglesias of Buildingi; and Program Coordinator of the Year, Angela Thomlinson of Catalyst Workplace Activation.

In Lynnwood, it hired Jenny Tang as an electrical project designer. Hamon has over 10 years of experience in media design, 3D design, and technology and equipment coordination for meeting and events. He is working on projects for Chateau St. Michelle in Woodinville. Biniam a background in military and health care electrical design through work at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and as an intern electrical designer. He holds a bachelor's in electrical engineering from Seattle University. Creveling is a recent electrical engineering graduate of Montana State University in Bozeman. He is working on the Seattle Asian Art Museum project. Griffin provides administrative support, and recently graduated from the University of Washington. Vasileski provides receptionist and administrative support. Tang has four years of experience in electrical engineering consulting for commercial, institutional and light industrial buildings, and is a licensed engineer in Canada. She is working on projects for Amazon. Stantec provides engineering, architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, surveying, environmental sciences, project management and project economics.

Mackin has over 23 years of experience, including on mission-critical, government, industrial, commercial and residential projects. Louie has over 30 years of experience on tenant improvement, corporate interiors, banking, education, health care, high-tech, biotech, food service and hospitality projects. Prill has over 16 years of experience on data center and mission critical projects, and for developers, contractors and private owners. He will manage construction of Facebook's Prineville, Oregon, and Los Lunas, New Mexico, data centers.
