JLL duo moves to IPA Capital Markets

IPA Capital Markets, which is part of Marcus & Millichap, said it has hired two prominent local brokers — Ray Allen and Seth Heikkila — from JLL. IPA's David Shillington said in a statement, “We are thrilled to announce the addition of Ray and Seth. They are well known in the local market and bring years of experience and expertise to our growing team in the Pacific Northwest.” Allen is actually returning to M&M, having worked there before JLL. Together, he and Heikkila have funded more than $2 billion in commercial real estate financing.

NAIOP broker forecast May 15

NAIOP's May 15 breakfast will feature a panel of experts who'll focus on development trends and what's driving tenants today. Speakers will include Cleita Harvey of JLL, Evan Lugar of Kidder Mathews, Tim Owens of CBRE, and Reid Rader of Eastdil Secured, who'll moderate the panel discussion. ULI offers leadership lessons

Seattle-based Perkins Coie announced William Malley will become managing partner in July. Malley is managing partner of the firm's Washington, D.C., office. He succeeds John Devaney, who will remain as a partner in the litigation practice in Washington, D.C. Malley joined Perkins Coie in 2008 as a partner in the Environment & Natural Resources practice. He also will remain in Washington, D.C.

Attorney Patrick J. Mullaney joined the Seattle office of Stoel Rives as of counsel in the Real Estate group. Mullaney focuses on land use, permitting and environmental regulations. He comes from Foster Pepper and has over 25 years of experience.

City of Tacoma

Toryono Green is the new Tacoma fire chief. Green, a former deputy fire chief, has been with Tacoma Fire Department for 26 years, starting as a firefighter and paramedic. He replaces Jim Duggan, who retired earlier this week.

Holistique IV Lounge

Holistique Naturopathic Medical Center opened Holistique IV Lounge, a walk-in IV clinic in downtown Bellevue. The lounge provides custom nutrient IVs and vitamin shots, which Holistique says boosts immunity, and improves athletic performance and brain function. Patients can get treatment in zero-gravity recliners or in private rooms.

Seattle-based Johnston Architects promoted Genevieve Theriault to associate and Amber French to principal. Theriault joined JA in 2017 in the multifamily and interior design teams. She has done housing, workplace, educational, master planning and commercial projects. She is project architect for Oak Tree Village, a 15,000-square-foot clubhouse for a senior community in Lacey. French was hired 2015 on the multifamily team. She has worked on housing, TI and education projects. She is project architect on the 42-unit Maple Leaf Flats near Green Lake and the 72-unit Metro Line Flats in the Yesler Terrace area. Both apartment projects will be done soon. Johnston provides architectural, interior design and planning services.

In Seattle, NAC Architecture promoted Cheryl Jacobs to associate principal, Sarah Finis and Julia Wrigley to senior associate, and Jason Bentley, Melia Blankenship, Bingram Lai, Garrett Nelli, Jose Rios and Emily Spillar to associate. Jacobs is an architect whose work has ranged from health care facilities to learning environments, and who is now working on The Evergreen State College's new Student Wellness Services Center. Finis is an interior designer for learning environments. She worked on the Student Union for the University of Providence in Great Falls, and is working on its new University Center. Wrigley is NAC's corporate graphic designer. She develops and maintains brand guidelines, creates branded templates for firm-wide collateral and communications pieces, and maintains visual consistency and brand application. Bentley is an architect on the student housing team with a background in mixed-use housing. He recently completed design for phase 1 of Bellevue College's first on-campus student housing, and is working on housing for Colorado School of Mines. Blankenship is an architect who coordinates teams on complex projects. She is working on Snoqualmie Valley School District's 250,000-square-foot Mount Si High School replacement, and a state-wide higher education facilities study for the Washington State Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction. Lai is an architectural designer with over 12 years of experience working with public and educational agencies in the Northwest. He has a background in modernization and historic renovation of occupied facilities, and is working on the adaptive reuse of Pacific Charter School Development's Impact Puget Sound Elementary School. Nelli is an architect working on Seattle Public Schools' new Wing Luke Elementary. He won AIA Seattle's Emerging Professionals Travel Scholarship in 2017 to research public interest design. Rios is an electrical engineer on education and health care facilities. He is working on La Center School District's new middle school, The Evergreen State College Student Wellness Service Center and projects for Western State Hospital. Spillar is an interior designer with a background in early childhood education who works on learning environments. She is working on Puyallup School District's new Dessie Evans Elementary, and Mount Si High.

Drake

Blueline hired Jake Drake as a permit technician, Daniel Robben as a project landscape architect and Brett Justinen as an engineer/construction inspector on public works projects. They work in Kirkland, Tukwila and Mill Creek, respectively. Drake has seven years of experience in the health care industry. He will help coordinate permits and be a liaison between clients and local jurisdictions. Robben has been a landscape architect at several firms, including most recently Cascade Design Collaborative for six years designing schools and parks in the Seattle area. Justinen has a bachelor's in civil engineering from Walla Walla University and experience as a project manager/engineer for Mac Engineering in Snohomish County. Blueline provides civil engineering, land use planning and landscape architecture.

Exeltech Consulting of Lacey hired Paul Matera as construction management director. He has 30 years of experience as a special inspector, and construction, quality and lab manager. He most recently owned a quality management system auditing consulting firm. His experience includes streets, utilities, parks, schools, housing, commercial buildings and telecom facilities. Exeltech provides planning, environmental permitting, civil and structural engineering, landscape architecture and construction management.

City of Redmond

Wilson

Redmond Police Chief Kristi Wilson will retire in June after 32 years of public service, including 26 years with the city of Redmond. Wilson was appointed chief in 2016 and is also serving as interim public works director. The city in May will start its search for a new chief. During the search, Fire Chief Tommy Smith will serve as public safety director, overseeing both the Police and Fire departments. Deputy Fire Chief Don Horton will step in as interim fire chief.

Seattle Times

Michele Matassa Flores is the new executive editor at The Seattle Times. Matassa Flores joined the paper in 1988 as a reporter and moved into various editing positions. She left in 2008 for leadership roles at Crosscut and Puget Sound Business Journal. She returned to the Times in 2013 and has been managing editor since 2016. She replaces Don Shelton, who is retiring in May after 32 years with the paper.

Community Health Plan of Washington

In Seattle, Community Health Plan of Washington appointed Dr. Paul Sherman as chief medical officer. Sherman previously lead the statewide care delivery system for Kaiser Permanente of Washington. He also held leadership roles at Group Health. Community Health Plan of Washington is a not-for-profit Medicaid and Medicare managed care plan.
