Anyone driving Interstate 5 north of Seattle will surely have noted Sound Transit's recent progress on the light rail line to Lynnwood. Trees are down and houses razed, land is cleared and grading underway. Concrete has been poured, and elevated track supports are sprouting.
Shoreline will have two stations, at 145th and 185th, and that's where upzoning, property offerings, land sales and apartment permitting are most apparent. Most prospective developers, however, are waiting until closer to the anticipated 2023 opening of the line to actually take out construction loans and break ground. And land values have risen accordingly.
