As the saying goes, they're not creating any more real estate in Seattle — one reason why housing and development costs are so high.
The last time we were making land was during pioneer days, when waterfront property owners kept wharfing out — dumping oyster shells and other garbage onto the tidelands, thus extending and claiming more downtown shoreline.
