On the Block: Offices to apartments? It's happening at the Seaboard Building

Trend or not a trend?

We've heard a lot about how the pandemic will supposedly kick some tired old office buildings to the curb. The thinking goes, Telecommuting has changed the way we work. Newer Class A buildings, many filled by tech workers, will be fine. But vacancy rates will rise to untenable levels in the lesser tiers of office product. Then — drumroll, please — owners will have to find new, alternative uses for all those empty floors once filled with cubicles, dying plants and ennui.
