Whether there's an outright property sale at 1722 Bellevue Ave., a ground lease or new joint venture with Bay Area developer Juno, the City Market appears eventually bound for demolition and resurrection. The small Capitol Hill grocer will apparently return to the planned eight-story, 98-unit apartment project, which has its next and likely final design review on Feb. 23.
New renderings and plans indicate the return of the market, plus its familiar red neon signage. It would have about 4,900 square feet up front, plus back-of-house operations to the rear. A separate small retail bay is planned with 618 square feet, also facing the three-way intersection also involving East Olive Way.
