GeoCom Resources of Bellingham announced John E. Hiner has joined the board of directors and was named president of the corporation. Hiner has 30 years of experience in resource exploration, managing exploration, acquisition and development programs for metals and industrial minerals on four continents. GeoCom Resources is a junior natural resource company operating in the oil and gas industry to identify and acquire oil and gas properties.

Richard Leider, project director for Lincoln Square, will talk about the stalled downtown Bellevue mega-project at the next lunch meeting of Commercial Real Estate Women, scheduled for May 8. The gathering begins at noon at the Bellevue Club, southeast of downtown Bellevue. The Bellevue Downtown Association's May meeting will include a presentation from the mayor and the city manager about new initiatives and issues facing the city, including economic development, transportation and the potential new civic center at the Qwest Building in downtown. Glen Vannoy of Realty Consultants in Seattle became one of only 210 auctioneers in the United States and Canada to become an Auction Marketing Institute "Accredited Auctioneer, Real Estate." Vannoy went through the institute's four-part educational program. Course topics include legal issues, financial analysis, property transfer and case studies on the marketing of residential, agricultural and commercial real estate.
Dennis Sutter became director of agent development for Windermere/East Inc. He'll provide coaching, personal branding and career development services to about 300 owners, managers and agents in six Eastside Windermere offices. Sutter has advised real estate agents for more than two decades, holding director roles at several Northwest companies including 10 years at John L. Scott Real Estate. He holds a state new construction instructor license, and is charter instructor for the National Association of Home Builders and the Master Builders Association.
Buck Michelsohn joined John L. Scott Real Estate's Kent North office as a sales associate. Ten people signed on at the firm's Auburn office: Shannon Andrews, Kim Esp, Deffia Schoos, Glenn Sterling, Laura Papritz, Jessica Ogas, Darcy Walker, Bob Clawson, Kellie Rust and Janel Snow. Four joined the Kent office: Sheila McGraw, Dennis Bassham, Stacie Cruzat-Del Prado and Matt Smith.

Eric Miller joined the staff of Lynnwood's Network Mortgage Services as a loan originator. He was previously with the sales department at Hard Drives Northwest of Bellevue. Miller will be responsible for originating Network Mortgage Services loans in King and Snohomish counties.

Architect Bill Kreager will talk about building new housing when the supply of affordable land is shrinking, at a Washington Association of Realtors Event on Wednesday, April 23. The presentation will run from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Evergreen Room of the Doubletree Hotel Seattle Airport. Kreager, of Mithun, is an advocate of the New Urbanism style of residential building. He "challenges negative assumptions about the 'D' word -- density" by retaining warmth and attractiveness in developments of up to 30 homes per acre, the association says. The Washington State Housing Finance Commission's 10th annual "Housing Washington" conference on affordable housing is scheduled for Sept. 8-10 at the Spokane Center in Spokane. Speakers include Norm Rice of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Seattle on "urging the Bush administration to take action" and the Urban Land Institute's John K.
