South Snohomish County Chamber

Community Transit, Fisher Properties, Alderwood Mall, Green Graphic Design and the Northwest Washington Women’s Business Center will be honored with Business Excellence Awards from the South Snohomish County Chamber of Commerce at the chamber's annual awards ceremony. The event will be at the Mill Creek Country Club June 3. Barrie Macdonald, KeyBank senior vice president and retail banking executive, will be the keynote speaker. Lorig Management Services

Kevin Grossman joined Lorig Management Services as executive property manager. He heads commercial leasing and property management at Welch Plaza, which parent company Lorig Associates and the Central Area Development Association have under construction in Seattle's Central District. Grossman also works on special projects in Lorig Management's portfolio of 1,800 apartments and 400,000 square feet of commercial space. He has 20 years experience in commercial real estate and property management, most recently as a property manager for Integrated Real Estate Services. He has worked for Pinnacle WebWorkz, Deutsche Bank and the Puget Sound Center. Grossman is also deputy mayor of Shoreline and a trustee of Shoreline Community College.

Washington Retail Seminar June 10

The 15th annual Washington Retail Seminar is scheduled for Tuesday, June 10, at the Bell Harbor International Conference Center on the Seattle waterfront. Bellevue Downtown Association

Leslie Ota was promoted to vice president at the Bellevue Downtown Association, which promotes growth and development in downtown Bellevue. Ota will emphasize business development, marketing and member recruitment. She holds a degree in business administration from the University of Puget Sound and has worked at the association since July 1999. She helped create the Bellevue Live after-hours jazz series and new marketing initiatives, including the Bellevue Downtown magazine.

Home ownership workshops

Century 21 Real Estate will hold two workshops on how to buy homes, Saturday, May 17, at 19720 44th Ave. W. in Lynnwood. Clise Properties

Richard Stevenson was promoted to president and chief operating officer at Clise Properties, one of downtown Seattle's largest property owners. Al Clise, whose family has run the company since his great grandfather started it in 1889, is chairman and CEO. Stevenson joined Clise in 1995 from Harbor Properties and played a leading role in Clise's late 1990s development of a 535,000-square-foot downtown office tower for Nordstrom called 1700 Seventh. Stevenson's 20 years in commercial real estate also include working for Wright Runstad & Co. and United Technologies' Otis Elevators. He attended Gonzaga University in Spokane and is a graduate of Evergreen State College in Olympia. Stevenson is on the boards of the Seattle Monorail Project and the Downtown Seattle Association.

Northwest Suites & Housing

Marilyn Fink is director of operations for Northwest Suites & Housing Services, a Redmond-based provider of corporate housing services to Microsoft, Amazon.com, Washington Mutual, the Mariners, Seahawks and others. Fink oversees warehouse operations, the company's Suite Furnishings store and its Northwest Carpet Cleaning company. Fink came from management at Cort Furniture, where she was district general manager for the past 11 years. She holds a bachelor's degree in speech communications from Western Washington University and an MBA from City University.

NAIOP meets May 21 on gridlock

Rob McKenna of the King County Council, Gary Nelson of the Snohomish County Council, state Sen. Jim Horn and state Rep. Ed Murray will discuss transportation gridlock as a panel moderated by Seattle Times editorial writer Bruce Ramsey at NAIOP's next monthly breakfast meeting. The gathering will run from 7 to 9 a.m. on Wednesday, May 21, at the Bellevue Club, southeast of downtown Bellevue. "This is your opportunity to express your thoughts on whether we should get to work by trains or new lanes," the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties says. Dan and Nancy Evans win First Citizen Award

Former Gov. Dan Evans and wife Nancy Evans will receive this year's First Citizen Award from the Seattle-King County Association of Realtors. The award honors good citizenship and community involvement.

Past winners have included Herb Bridge, Phil Smart Sr., Jack Benaroya, Dr. Lester Sauvage and the Gates family.

Dan Evans served as governor for three terms, from 1965 to 1977. Then he was president of Evergreen State College before he was appointed in 1983 to the U.S. Senate seat that Henry Jackson had held. He is on the University of Washington's board of regents and on the board of trustees for Lakeside School and Children's Hospital.

Nancy Evans is on the board of trustees at Whitman College and the boards of the Seattle Symphony and the Benaroya Hall Music Center. The Evanses will receive the award at a banquet May 22 at the downtown Seattle Sheraton Hotel.

Windermere

Amanda Nokes joined Windermere Real Estate's Queen Anne office as a sales associate. Nokes was previously an account representative with The Escrow Group in Seattle. Her background includes experience as a mortgage broker. Mary Durkan joined Windermere's Ballard office. She came from John L. Scott Real Estate and her background includes appraising commercial properties and working as a land-use specialist.

Russ Goetting is a new sales associate in John L. Scott Real Estate's Bremerton office. Rhonda Bair and Phyllis Davis joined the Arlington office.

CDM signs Woodinville lease

Teutsch Partners signed the geotechnical engineering firm of Camp Dresser & McKee to a lease for 18,060 square feet in Teutsch's Ridgewood Corporate Park in Woodinville. Camp Dresser is working on design and construction of King County's Brightwater waste water treatment plant, which is targeted for completion in 2010.
