BeautyFirst

BeautyFirst will open a store in TRF Pacific’s downtown Woodinville Development, its first in the Puget Sound market. The store is slated to open April 1. BeautyFirst expects its Washington expansion to total 10 to 12 stores. The sleek, open-format, merchandising salon also offers a spa experience. Blatteis Realty represented BeautyFirst.

Prospering in a Tough Economy

NAIOP's spring seminar, set for Tuesday, April 23, in Seattle, will be called "Prospering In A Tough Economy." The 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. event is scheduled for the Bell Harbor International Conference Center on the Seattle waterfront. Richard Leider of Trinity Real Estate and Lincoln Square will serve as moderator for the day. Hour-long sessions will provide panels that will follow a repeating theme of how construction companies will prosper this year, how brokerages will, how architects will and how developers will. A panel of Bob MacMillian, Mike Makar, Art Wahl and Bob Wallace will address "How Seasoned Veterans Have Weathered The Storm Before." The lunch speaker will be First Union Corp. economist Jay Bryson. Enviro-friendly homes conference

The National Green Building Conference will be Sunday through Tuesday (March 24-26) at the Westin Hotel in downtown Seattle. The event deals with environmentally friendly home construction and land development. Bankers Tim Moriarty and Michael Esfeld moved from First Union Bank in Bellevue to a newly opened Bellevue office of CNL Commercial. Both spent almost 13 years in Bellevue with the Money Store and its 1998 acquirer, First Union. They'll make loans for buying commercial buildings. CNL Commercial Finance is an Orange County-based arm of Orlando-based CNL Financial Group, a large real estate investment and financing firm. The new office is at 10655 N.E. Fourth St.

Hendricks & Partners

The 90-unit University Glen Apartments in University Place, south of Tacoma, sold for $4.1 million, reports the brokerage of Hendricks & Partners. A partnership put together by Cardish Inc. of Puyallup sold to WDLFT LLC of Seattle and University Glen Apartments LLC. Tim Ufkes of Hendricks represented both sides.

Land-use law update

An update on Washington land-use law will be presented on April 22 and 23 in Seattle by Law Seminars International. Speakers will be from various area law firms, government agencies and growth management groups. These include Eric Laschever of Preston Gates & Ellis, Dan Stroh of Bellevue planning, appellate Judge Susan Agid, Tim Trohimovich of 1,000 Friends of Washington and J. South Downtown Foundation

The South Downtown Foundation appointed Jim Faulstich to its board of directors. Faulstich recently retired from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Seattle, after serving as president and CEO for 20 years. The foundation's goal is to help mitigate the impact of the new Football/Soccer Stadium and Exhibition Center on the surrounding neighborhoods, and to act as a catalyst for neighborhood revitalization.
