Developer Liz Dunn of Dunn + Hobbes LLC, Alice Quaintance of the Manufactured Housing Community Perservationists and Andy Read, a partner at Deloitte & Touche, have been elected to the Capitol Hill Housing Improvement Program board of directors. Sarah Schuyler of Pike Street Corner Development was re-elected. CHHIP provides affordable housing and works to preserve neighborhood character in Seattle. It owns and operates more than 35 buildings that serve 1,600 low-income families and individuals.
Douglas Bartocci, Nikki Taylor and Spencer McCormick are new members of the NAI Norris, Beggs & Simpson brokerage team. Bartocci joins the Vancouver branch as an office broker. He previously specialized in office sales and leasing with Norris & Stevens, where he was the top leasing agent in 2003 and 2005. Taylor has worked in property management for NAI Norris, Beggs & Simpson since 1999 and is shifting to retail brokerage in the Vancouver office. McCormick, previously in retail brokerage with Norris & Stevens where he was the top producer, will work as part of the investment group. Last year, Oregon Business Magazine named him one of 10 "Up and Comers" in real estate.
S-J Management LLC, a real estate investment, brokerage and property management company, is forming a limited liability company to raise between $10 million and $15 million to buy investment properties in Phoenix. It's the latest in a flurry of activity for the Seattle-based company, which has completed more than $152 million worth of transactions during the past 15 months. Among the highlights -- Purchasing the 180-unit Mandarina Apartments for $15.475 million, the 185-unit Belaflora Apartments for $16.1 million, the 257-unit Monterra Apartments for $18.16 million, and the 22,749-square-foot Biltmore Lakes Office Building for $4.2 million. All are in Phoenix.
-- Selling the 464-unit Glen Park at West Campus Apartments in Federal Way for $36.5 million and the 170-unit Ventura Vista Apartments in Phoenix for $16.7 million

Jan Gehl, a Danish architect who is considered by many to be n expert on public spaces, will speak at the Seattle Central Library, 1000 Fourth Ave., at 5:30 p.m. June 6. He's the founding partner of Gehl Architects and a professor at the Royal Danish Academy's School of Architecture. The presentation, part of the 2005 Urban Sustainability Forum, is free.

Longtime Seattle real estate investor and developer Michael R. Mastro's Mastro Properties completed $115 million worth of transactions during the first four months of 2005. Among the highlights:
Sold three single-family subdivisions totaling 333 lots for $34 million. In Pierce County, Afford A Home and Reich Construction bought 63 lots each, and Regents Homes bought 197 lots. Puget Sound Homes bought the other 10 lots, which are in Snohomish County.
Bought 230 single-family lots for $10.8 million at Ridge View, in the Spanaway/Graham area. The proposed gated community has preliminary plat approval, and the first phase should be ready for sale to builders by the end of the year, according to Mastro Properties' CFO Monika Harmon. Lots average 5,800 square feet, and prices will start at $110,000.
Started building North City Apartments, 17763 15th Ave. N.E., in Shoreline. Mastro Properties' Global Development is the contractor. The completed value of the 88-unit project will be $16.8 million.
Preparing to build a 5-story, 68-unit apartment building in Bellevue at 211 112th Ave. N.E. The completed value will be $11.1 million.
Bought the 48,000-square-foot Provail Building, 3680 Stone Way N., for $7 million. Provail leases about 13,000 square feet, and Mastro has a tenant interested in the rest of the 5-year-old building, according to Harmon.
Bought Lincoln Plaza, formerly Lincoln Cinema, for $3.3 million. The vacant building is between Tacoma Mall and the new Costco Center, and the plan is to redevelop it into a fitness center.
The Washington chapter of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties has created a 16-member advisory board. It will help the board of directors make decisions affecting the future of the group and the commercial real estate industry in the state, according to chapter President Bart Brynestadof Panattoni Development. In addition to Brynestad, Advisory Board members are Patrick Callahan of Equity Office Properties, Tom Parsons of Opus Northwest, Richard Stevenson of Clise Properties, Bob Wallace of Wallace Properties, Dale Sperling of Unico Properties, Dan Ivanoff of Schnitzer Northwest, Douglas Howe of Touchstone Corp., Greg Smith of Gregory Broderick Smith Real Estate, John Pietromonaco of Hill-Raaum-Pietromonaco, John Teutsch of Teutsch Partners, Joe Blattner of Tarragon, Gary Carpenter of Bentall Capital, Shannon Underwood of Underwood Gartland Development, Kemper Freeman Jr. of Kemper Development and Frank Stagen of Nitze-Stagen. The group will meet three times a year and members will serve one-year terms.
