Martin Kooistra is the new executive director of the Housing Development Consortium Seattle-King County. Kooistra has worked in residential and commercial construction for nonprofit and for-profit organizations. At Habitat for Humanity, he helped build alliances in large markets, rural areas and on Native American reservations. The consortium is a nonprofit that represents more than 100 businesses, nonprofits and public partners working to develop and preserve low-income housing.

Stewart National Title Services hired Peter Johndrow as a business development officer in the Seattle office. Johndrow will be responsible for new local customers and accounts. He has more than 23 years of experience in title and escrow, insurance underwriting, branch management, and sales and leasing of retail properties. Stewart National Title is based in Houston and is a division of Stewart Title Guaranty Co., which helps companies with closing and underwriting real estate transactions.
Capitol Hill Housing added two people to its boards. Pamela Banks, president and CEO of the Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle, has joined the board of directors, and John Hoyt, president of Pyramid Communications, joined the Foundation Board, which raises money for projects and operations at CHH. Capitol Hill Housing owns 44 buildings in Seattle.
Powell Development Co. said Maple Valley Town Square, a 234,000-square-foot shopping center it developed at state Route 516 and Maple Valley-Black Diamond Road, is full. Josh Parnell, Justin Kraft and Woody Harris of First Western Properties represented Powell. Bellevue-based Powell has properties in Washington, Oregon and Utah. It specializes in shopping centers and stand-alone projects like drug stores, banks and restaurants.
HFO Investment Real Estate, a Portland firm that specializes in apartments, is holding its eighth annual Investor Roundtable luncheon beginning at 11 a.m. Jan. 9 at the Multnomah Athletic Club in Portland. John W. Mitchell, former economist at U.S. Bancorp, will talk about the local and national economy; Gwenn Baldwin, government relations consultant for Multifamily NW, will give a legislative update; and HFO partner Greg Frick will report on 2013 and give a forecast for 2014. NBS Financial Services' Principal and Director of Seattle Production Mike Wood arranged $39 million in acquisition financing for a 210,300-square-foot FedEx industrial property in Redmond. Charlotte-based SunCap Property Group sold the distribution facility to Franklin-Redmond LLC for $60.63 million in October. State Farm Life Insurance was the lender. The loan was difficult because the deal equated to $185 per square foot, much higher than the typical $100 to $150 per square foot valuation for industrial properties.
Capitol Hill Housing is seeking a new chief operating officer to oversee property management, compliance, information technology and human resources. Applicants should have at least 10 years of experience in one of the following fields: real estate, property management, finance, human resources, nonprofit administration and low-income housing. Mike Nelson and Craig Dobbs of Trammell Crow Co. will be the speakers at Commercial Real Estate Women Seattle and Sound's December lunch meeting at 11:30 a.m. Dec. 12 at Washington Athletic Club in Seattle. RPM Northwest LLC, an auto and truck parts and accessories business, will lease 1,500 square feet of office space, 6,000 square feet of warehouse and a storage yard at the Port of Ridgefield. Kelly Shea of Coldwell Banker Commercial represented RPM, and Scott Fraser of Kidder Mathews represented the port. RPM used to be in Brush Prarie south of Battleground. The new space is closer to Interstate 5 and has higher ceilings, allowing RPM to handle bigger vehicles like RVs. Ridgefield is in the northern portion of Clark County.
