Rolluda Architects hired Christina Ciampa as a marketing specialist, and Brenden Day, Anya Sellsted and Juan Antonio Calaf as project designers. Ciampa holds a dual master's in landscape architecture and urban design from the University of Colorado at Denver, and a bachelor's in plant biology and sculpture from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. She will do proposals, website and social media work, graphic production, event planning and branding. Day holds a bachelor's in architecture from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo. He is on the Washington State Convention Center expansion team. Sellsted has worked on design-build projects in France and the U.S., and has a background in interiors. She is working on NOAA projects in Sandpoint and Mukilteo. Calaf has been an architectural designer in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Puerto Rico and Seattle. He is working on restoration of The Louisa Hotel in Seattle's Chinatown-International District.

In Puyallup, Parametrix hired Arthur Stokes as a senior electrical engineer. Stokes has 26 years of experience as an electrical engineer working in the Puget Sound region and West Coast. He will do project management and business development. He was an electrical resource manager at Kennedy Jenks. Parametrix provides engineering, planning and environmental sciences, with offices in the western U.S.

Environmental Science Associates promoted Terri (Vitar) Avila to community development practice leader. She takes over from Brian Boxer, who was recently named Northern California regional director. Avila has over 30 years of experience in environmental consulting and natural resource planning. She managed the Candlestick Point-Hunters Point Shipyard Phase II EIR, which won the American Planning Association National Achievement Award for Hard Won Victories. ESA is a West Coast-based environmental planning and design firm.

In Spokane, Stantec hired Scott Somers as a senior architect. Somers has over 26 years of industry experience, mainly with health care, dental and orthodontic projects in the U.S. and abroad. He also has experience in business and real estate projects and community/civic design, and ran his own firm, ARCH-101. Stantec consults in planning, engineering, architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, surveying, environmental sciences, project management and project economics.

Portland-based FFA Architecture and Interiors hired Lynn Hilbert as a specifications and quality assurance/quality control manager, Mayumi Nakazato as an interior designer, Michael Leighland as a project team leader and John Pete as a project architect. Hilbert returns to FFA with over 35 years as an architect. Nakazato has over 10 years of experience, and recently completed Smith Optics' new office in the Industrial Home Building. Leighland has over 10 years of experience on housing, office, retail and hospitality projects. Pete has over nine years of experience, and is working on Redmond City Hall/Civic Center in Oregon. FFA provides architecture, planning, historic preservation and interior design services.

In its Honolulu office, Hart Crowser hired Janice Marsters, Ph.D., as principal and office manager, Vijayalakshmi Tummala as an associate environmental engineer and Jessica Dunn as a project environmental scientist. Marsters has over 20 years of consulting experience in Hawaii and the Pacific, specializing in stormwater, program management, environmental investigation, cleanup, planning and permitting. Tummala has over 12 years of experience in water resources engineering, stormwater management, environmental compliance and civil engineering. She will support National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System projects. Dunn has six years of experience in watershed management. She will support stormwater, environmental, natural resource and GIS projects. Hart Crowser is an engineering, science and consulting firm headquartered in Seattle.

In its Seattle office, CallisonRTKL named Paul Makowicki, Matt Billerbeck, Mike Riggs, Alex Shapleigh, Ro Shroff and Ron Singler senior vice presidents, and Darryl Custer vice president. Makowicki will be office director in Seattle, working to elevate the profile of the office and leading initiatives on aviation and light rail. He has over three decades of experience with retail and mixed-use projects. Billerbeck will lead the shopping and entertainment team for the commercial practice group. He will do business development and provide design guidance for commercial projects. He has over 20 years of experience in retail and mixed-use. Riggs will be the regional practice group leader of North America for the retail group and lead programs for stores globally. He over 24 years of experience in retail strategy and environment design. Shapleigh will head the specialty retail team for the retail stores practice group. He has 20 years of experience, including REI stores. Shroff will lead tall buildings initiatives. He has over 30 years of experience, including mixed-use and tall buildings, and will help the firm expand in new markets. Singler will lead the retail stores: Nordstrom team. He was a design principal for the Nordstrom studio and has over 30 years of experience in design and brand strategy. Custer will be emerging region practice group leader for South Asia in the commercial practice group. He has over 25 years of retail design and project management experience. CallisonRTKL has over 2,000 employees.

Bruce Gustafson is retiring from Tacoma-based Enginuity Systems, and Jamie Vinyard and Francis Masotto have joined co-founder Jesse Barksdale in ownership and new management roles. Vinyard is now majority owner and was promoted to chief operating officer. Masotto was promoted to associate principal and will continue as a project manager. Steve Baldridge was hired as a project engineer. He was with PSF Mechanical. In 2008 Gustafson and Barksdale founded Enginuity, which provides mechanical engineering for buildings. Gustafson has been an engineer for nearly four decades, mostly focusing on mechanical/HVAC and plumbing design.

In Seattle, BCRA hired Amy Burke as a project designer. Burke has nine years of experience in architecture and interior design. She was with GGLO, working on projects that included AVA Apartments University District in Seattle. BCRA is an 80-person architecture and engineering firm, with an office also in Tacoma.

In Seattle, Sazan Group hired C. Erik Larson as a senior project manager and Heather Warner as a project administrative specialist. Larson is a mechanical and fire protection engineer with over 27 years of experience on military, industrial, commercial and institutional facilities. Warner has 20 years of administrative experience supporting engineering firms. Sazan provides mechanical, electrical, and fire protection engineering, information technology systems consulting, MEP commissioning, and owner representation services, with an office also in Portland.

Stantec said Denise B. Fong, a principal and lighting discipline lead, is among the first people in the world to be a Certified Lighting Designer in architectural lighting design. Stantec provides consulting in planning, engineering, architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, surveying, environmental sciences, project management and project economics.

In Redmond, GeoEngineers hired Yanbei Zhang as a staff geotechnical engineer, Kellen Botten as a field technician and Jessica Firsow as a senior database administrator in the IT department. In Seattle, it hired Allison Northrop as a marketing coordinator and Matt Herzel as a writer/producer, Carl Longton and Michelle Deng as staff geotechnical engineers and Chad Stickel as the CAD group leader. In Tacoma, the firm hired Haunani Mara as a CAD technician. GeoEngineers is an earth science, engineering and technology consulting firm headquartered in Seattle, with offices in Redmond, Tacoma and Bellingham, as well as Oregon, Idaho, California, Utah, Missouri and Louisiana.
