Warning! Before you read on, expect that some of this will hit home. It may sting a little. But like my dad used to say just before a whuppin', “Son, this is going to hurt me more than you!” (Yeah, right!)
This recession is not an equal-opportunity pain provider. Some companies are actually using the recession to their advantage. Their previous hard work in market positioning, strategic planning, operational fine-tuning and finding creative ways to work more efficiently and effectively are really paying dividends now that the competition has heated up. The proverbial “Cream always rises to the top” holds true — especially in recessions.
