Pratt Fine Arts Center

Pratt Fine Arts Center wants to fill a newly established position of managing director. The position was established to assist Executive Director Greg Robinson. Pratt's board of directors has named Sara Pasti interim managing director until the position is filled. Pasti was director of curatorial affairs for the Henry Art Gallery. The center has also recently hired Bob Wicklein of the Seneca Real Estate Group to be project manager for building a new facility in Seattle's Central District.

Brown and Caldwell

The Seattle office of Brown and Caldwell has acquired several staff members, including Robert Gatz, Alex Reed and Bo Vestergaard-Hansen.

Gatz, a civil engineer with 24 years of experience, rejoins Brown and Caldwell as a project manager and lead designer for wastewater collection and conveyance, and storm water projects. Projects he has lead recently include site design for the ongoing Clearwater Casino Expansion Project in Suquamish; utility and site design for the Poulsbo Place redevelopment in Poulsbo; site design for Central Market, Poulsbo; and sewage pump station design for the Clearwater Casino. He will be working with the wastewater collection and conveyance group developing infrastructure solutions as well as expanding Brown & Caldwell’s client base in Kitsap County and on the Olympic Peninsula.

An electrical engineer with 10 years of experience, Reed has served as lead electrical engineer on projects involving water and wastewater plants, wet electrostatic precipitators (OSB plants), paper plants, refrigeration facilities, jails, co-generation plants and bridges. He is working on the South Treatment Plant Fault study and the Carkeek Pump Station CSO improvements for King County, as well as the Everett Water Treatment Plant Soda Ash Feeder Replacement.

Vestergaard-Hansen is a recent graduate from the University of Washington where he received his master of science in mechanical engineering. His studies concentrated on energy, power generation and environmental technologies, including alternative power generation and environmental control equipment, as well as environmental management. Since joining Brown and Caldwell, he has assisted on the fuel cell demonstration project for King County, as well as the wastewater treatment plant expansion project for the Alderwood Water District.

Freiheit & Ho

John Hornibrook has joined Freiheit & Ho Architects as a project manager. He received his degree from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design and has seven years of experience in architecture and design from American and Japanese cultures. He also has experience with sustainable building projects and green architecture.

Established in 1985, Freiheit & Ho Architects, Inc., P.S. has grown significantly in the past 16 years, offering commercial architecture, planning and interior design.

Merritt+Pardini

Merritt+Pardini announced that David Brueggeman has joined the firm as a project manager. Brueggeman is a licensed architect with 20 years of experience. He has a diverse project background including government, transportation, health care, aviation, marine, corporate, hospitality, education, justice, mixed-use, science and biotechnology, convention center and historic preservation projects. His experience includes Benaroya Hall, Washington State Convention and Trade Center, Sea-Tac International Airport Terminal expansion, and Microsoft Executive Conference Center. Brueggeman is working on the Greater Tacoma Convention Center.

Merritt+Pardini is an architecture, interior design and planning firm with offices in Seattle and Tacoma. Established in 1984, Merritt+Pardini has grown to a staff of 45.

American Planning Association

Heather E. McCartney, planning director of the city of Mukilteo, has been elected to the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Certified Planners. The learning program is part of the American Planning Association. McCartney has been in her current position since 1997 and prior to that was with the city of Bellevue Parks Department.

Shannon & Wilson

Principal wetland biologist/botanist Katie Walter was promoted to manager of Shannon & Wilson’s natural resources group. Walter has nearly 12 years of experience as a wetland specialist performing natural resource inventories, wetland delineations, mitigation plans, and permitting for complex multi-jurisdictional projects. Clients rely on her technical expertise in mitigation design and applied ecological concepts to plan for expected permit requirements and implement permittable project designs. She also performs biological assessments, botanical surveys, and serves as an endangered species act specialist. She is currently providing wetland delineation and permitting for the city of Seattle on the Ravenna Park daylighting project.

James Lassiter has joined Halvorson, Beach & Bower, a mechanical engineering consulting firm based in Seattle, as a project engineer. Lassiter, a graduate of Georgia Tech, has a B.S. in nuclear engineering and five years experience in mechanical engineering, plumbing systems and fire protection. Assignments include the Pearson Elementary School remodel for the North Kitsap School District, the Salvation Army’s Communication Center modernization in White Center, the Primary School addition in Blaine and additions and remodeling at Sunset Elementary for the Issaquah School District.

R&W

Donald C. Pfaff has joined R&W Engineering's mechanical engineering team. Pfaff brings 26 years of mechanical engineering experience with many project types and sizes.

R&W Engineering was established in 1978, and is located in Beaverton, Ore. Its principal and lead engineers design work for municipal, industrial, commercial, institutional and governmental clients.

Robinson & Noble

Robinson & Noble, Inc. announced that Doug Dow is returning to the firm after an absence of 20 years. Dow began his career as a consulting hydrogeologist in 1976 with Robinson & Noble. He left in 1981 to work for Carr & Associates and remained with Carr until this year, surviving company buy-outs by AGI Technologies and Camp Dresser McKee. Camp Dresser closed its water resource office in Gig Harbor.

He was a hydrogeologist and senior project manager with CDM. At Robinson & Noble he will have the equivalent position of senior hydrogeologist and project manager. His main duties will be to manage projects and perform hydrogeologic services.

Roth Hill

NewsBriefs:Haidee Bristol-Horne has joined Roth Hill Engineering Partners as a part-time corporate administrative assistant. She supports the executive management team with budget tracking, meeting coordination, general administrative support and direct executive assistance.
