CDi

CDi Engineers hired Wesley D. Armstead as director of health care services. He has 20 years of health care and construction management experience including code compliance, facilities management and planning, infrastructure operations, energy management and facility master planning. Armstead is responsible for coordination of project planning, team organization, quality control and client liaison.

In addition, Debbie Anderson has joined CDi Engineers. With 20 years of experience, she provides technical and administrative assistance to all staff members.

INCA

INCA Engineers announced Richard W. Simmons has joined the Tacoma office as a senior project manager and railroad specialist. He has managed rail projects ranging from $500,000 to $75 million for Class 1, short line and regional railroads, as well as major transit agencies worldwide.

HBB

HBB, a Seattle-based mechanical engineering firm, hired design engineer Richard Watson. Watson, a former captain in the U.S. Air Force, has seven years mechanical engineering experience. He has worked on a variety of HVAC, plumbing and commissioning projects. Currently, he is assigned to the Salvation Army White Center Corps Communication Center, the Island County Annex remodel and the LaVenture Middle School remodel and addition in Mount Vernon.

Putnam Collins Scott

Jack Pinkard, Rick Oehmcke, Craig Stauffer and Brian Phair recently were promoted to principals at Putnam Collins Scott Associates.

Pinkard has been project manager on a wide variety of buildings including Columbia Bank Center, Good Samaritan Children’s Therapy Unit, PLU Music Building, Quadrant Lake Union Center, Hokold Pacific Towers and numerous K-12 new and renovated schools, including new high schools in Kent, Auburn, Sumner and Bethel.

Stauffer is manager in charge of the expanding Seattle office. Current and recent projects include the Central Washington University Music Education Center, Central Washington University Black Hall, University of Washington Tacoma Campus Science Building, Truman High School, the Tulalip Health Center and Assisted Living Facilities in Studio City and Pacific Beach, Calif.

Oehmcke has served as project manager on many of the firm's educational and other projects including Mount Tahoma High School, Pioneer Motorcycle Museum, Redmond Junior High School, The Bear Creek School, Tacoma Public Utilities Additions/Seismic Upgrades, and numerous assisted living facilities in Washington, California, and Arizona.

Phair's recently completed and current projects include Phase 1B-University of Washington Tacoma Campus, Redmond High School, Denney Juvenile Justice Center, Arlington High School, Kitsap Fire Training Tower, Ballou Junior High, Pierce County Jail and the new Mount Tahoma Stadium

University of Washington

Dr. Christina M. Surawicz has been named to the newly created position of assistant dean for faculty development at the University of Washington School of Medicine. Surawicz is a professor of medicine in the division of gastroenterology and chief gastroenterology at Harborview Medical Center. As assistant dean she will design, implement and coordinate faculty development programs for the School of Medicine.

Washington State University

 The Washington State University Board of Regents has designated its 70-year-old Hotel and Restaurant Administration program as the School of Hospitality Business Management. The hospitality program is the fifth oldest in the United States. The program also offers a degree in hospitality in Europe, through a sister program in Brig, Switzerland.

Independence Energy

Bill Ward has been named to the board of directors at Independence Energy, a provider of natural gas under new federal oversight rules that is located in Bel Air, Md. Ward is the president of Management Engineering Associates of Camas.

Mahlum

Mahlum Architects has named five new associates in its Seattle office. Todd Olson's most notable projects are the Evergreen Professional Center at Evergreen Hospital Medical Center in Kirkland, master planning for Mount Edgecumbe Hospital in Sitka, a student health and wellness center at the University of California/Los Angeles, and numerous projects for Valley Medical Center in Renton.

Douglas McNutt, a project manager, focuses on health care and technology projects such as the radiation oncology addition, the emergency department expansion and the East Pavilion addition at Evergreen Hospital Medical Center in Kirkland; the research and development laboratories at Corixa Corp. in Seattle; and the new Children's Hospital at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane.

David Swenson has concentrated the last eight years on education projects, including the design and renovation of Suzzallo Library at the University of Washington and the 1,600-student Ballard High School in Seattle.

Mitchell Kent's primary focus is on education architecture and maintaining effective client relationships. As project architect he is responsible for the Cedar Valley Community School in Edmonds and various other schools such as Northshore in Bothell and Three Cedars Waldorf in Bellevue. He also worked on tenant improvements for Corixa Corp. in Seattle.

Benjamin Doty works primarily on health care and education projects such as the Seminar II classroom building at Evergreen State College, the radiation oncology center at Evergreen Hospital Medical Center in Kirkland and a new patient wing addition at Ketchikan General Hospital in Ketchikan. In addition, Doty is responsible for the firm's three-dimensional design graphics and for screening and hiring new employees for the Seattle office.

Entranco

Entranco announced Gary Demich has been promoted to vice president, transportation program lead. Demich previously headed the transportation division in Entranco’s Bellevue branch. His background includes highway and bridge engineering, maintenance, and federal and state funding for city, county and tribal transportation projects. His efforts in delivering a new freeway interchange from start to finish in 25 months earned him recognition as one of the top 25 newsmakers in the construction industry worldwide for 1997.

KPFF

Joe Eberhardt has been named associate at KPFF Consulting Engineers. Eberhardt, a civil project manager, has 14 years experience in site development projects for commercial, retail, residential and transit facilities.

He is working on the Redondo Heights Park-and-Ride, Trimble Hall Residence facility at the University of Puget Sound and is doing the North Precinct expansion feasibility study for the Seattle Police Department. Eberhardt is overseeing various projects at Redmond Town Center, including the Bon Marche store and a multi-tenant retail building and a regional sewer study. He recently completed the Northpointe office complex infrastructure in Snohomish County, the Twin Lakes Park-and-Ride for the Washington State Department of Transportation in Federal Way and the Edmonds Community College Transit Center in Lynnwood.

CDi

CDi Engineers recently added Ed Langebartel to its engineering staff. He has 25 years mechanical design and project management experience on a wide variety of projects. He is initially providing design and management expertise for two projects at Children’s Hospital and Regional Medical Center: the Seattle City Light transformer vault cooling project and the infrastructure domestic water filtration project.

Rod Pascua joins CDi Engineers’ health care team, bringing 15 years of mechanical design experience to his work on the 70th and Sand Point Way Medical Office Building at Children’s Hospital and Regional Medical Center in Seattle. He is also involved with several projects at Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee, including the laboratory renovation, diagnostic imaging renovation, helipad addition, campus clinic renovation and the surgery addition.

Rachelle Steele brings her previous experience in the HVAC industry to CDi’s CAD Department, where she is working on a variety of projects, including Providence Everett Medical Center Pavilion for Women and Children, Seattle Center Marion Oliver McCaw Hall, University of Washington Medical Center Surgery Pavilion, Sound Transit Maintenance Facility and Washington Mutual Corporate Leadership Center
