Gensler hired Robert Cipollone as a senior project manager and Christa Jansen as lead designer for office interiors in its Seattle office. Cipollone has more than 20 years of hospitality and retail experience. He is leading projects for retail clients, focusing on design, construction and brand identity. He previously worked for SkB Architects. Jansen has 15 years of experience and will lead design for clients that include Microsoft and NBC.com. She was a senior designer for IA Interior Architects, developing corporate, hospitality and public sector interiors. Gensler is a global design, planning and strategic consulting firm.


Triad Associates hired Susan Eastman Jensen as director of landscape architecture/site design and Ryan Kohlmann as a senior project planner. Jensen has 25 years of landscape architecture experience, most recently on recreation and trail design. Her background includes master planned communities, site design, land use, environmental and site planning, and project management. Kohlmann has worked in planning and land development since 1998, focusing on project management, entitlements, design review and urban design. Before joining Triad, he was a senior project manager at YarrowBay Holdings. Triad provides civil engineering, surveying, land use planning and landscape architecture.



Otak hired Ellen Webster as a civil engineering designer, Ahmed Kayanda as a CAD technician, and Nancy Anton as a receptionist and project assistant in its Kirkland office. Webster has experience in roadway and site design for municipal projects. She was treasurer and build leader for Habitat for Humanity Club and was a Honduras project member for Engineers Without Borders. She is working on projects for Redmond and Woodinville. Kayanda was a CAD intern at an engineering firm. He also has experience working with conservation architects for Unesco on buildings in Zanzibar. Acton has more than 20 years of experience in administrative assistance and office management. Otak provides engineering, urban design, architecture and planning.

Irina Makarow joined BergerABAM in its Vancouver office. Makarow has 26 years of engineering and environmental permitting experience. For the past 18, she has done regulatory and environmental reviews for industries that include heavy metal refining, ports and electrical generation. Makarow is working on projects for western Washington utilities and ports. BergerABAM provides civil and structural engineering, architecture, land use planning, natural resources, public involvement, landscape architecture, surveying, construction management and dive services.


Elliott Bay Design Group hired engineer Kurt Jankowski and designer Justin Jones in its Seattle office. Jankowski has done engineering internships in Shanghai, China and South Korea, and ran his own company designing and testing underwater 3D imaging and remotely operated vehicles. Jones is a CAD designer and industrial designer. He has worked as a design lead in charge of product development and oversight of CAD models. EBDG provides naval architecture, marine engineering and production support. It also has an office in New Orleans.

Sparling hired May Vue as a wireless technology designer, Adam Croft as an audiovisual designer, and Heather Boyko, James Chong, Colin O'Brien and Manik Joshi as electrical project designers in the Lynnwood office. Vue is working on the Spokane Regional Emergency Communication Systems 2013 Radio System. Croft is doing AV design on Seattle University's Pigott Auditorium and Student Center upgrades. Boyko is working on the Bellevue Center high-rise office and retail project. Chong is supporting project managers on a design-build tenant improvement for Amazon Met Park North. O'Brien is working on the Logan Building in Seattle. Joshi holds a bachelor's in electrical engineering from the University of Kentucky, Lexington. He is assisting project managers. Sparling is an electrical, technology, audiovisual, acoustical and lighting design firm with offices in Lynnwood, Portland and San Diego.


Seattle-based DCI Engineers hired Michelle Oresky as a structural project engineer and promoted Justin Cook to associate principal in the Spokane office. Oresky is working on Thermo King Northwest in Spokane. She holds a bachelor's in civil engineering from Princeton University. Cook has more than 13 years of experience, including with commercial, residential, retail, industrial and mixed-use projects. At DCI, he led the design direction on Gonzaga University's McCarthey Athletic Center. DCI is a civil and structural consulting firm, with offices also in Portland and Eugene, Ore.; San Diego, Irvine and San Francisco, Calif.; and Austin, Texas.




Reid Middleton hired Mike Yeoman as survey director and Katie Maurer and Kenneth O'Neill, each as Designer 1, in the Everett office. It also hired Jason Kwiatkowski as a Designer 1 in Anchorage, and Kevin Galvez as an intern and Woo sung Chang as a senior CAD technician in Honolulu. The company also promoted Erik Bishop to project engineer in Everett. Yeoman, a surveyor, has more than 30 years of experience managing public and private projects in the Northwest. He was survey manager at Perteet. Maurer interned at Gewalt-Hamilton Associates in Illinois. She is providing design support on roundabouts, including the Lakemont/Cougar Mountain roundabout in Bellevue. O'Neill previously worked for HNTB in Texas and KPFF in Seattle. He is providing structural design support on several Navy projects, including hangar expansions at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island. Kwiatkowski holds a master's in structural engineering from the University of Alaska Fairbanks. He is providing technical support on structural projects, including the Alaska Laborers Trust Building. Galvez holds a bachelor's in civil and environmental engineering from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, and is pursuing a master's in civil engineering there. He supports design on Navy, Army and state of Hawaii transportation projects. Chang recently worked for Wilson Okamoto. He provides technical support on Navy, Army, and Hawaii transportation projects. Bishop has worked on education, civic and private projects, with an emphasis on public facilities and earthquake engineering. He is working on Birchwood Elementary School in Bellingham. Reid Middleton is an Everett-based engineering, planning and surveying firm.
In the Seattle office, GeoEngineers hired Lisa Huston as administrative leader, Vanessa Casavant as marketing communication specialist, Nathan Solomon as a project coordinator, Jonathan Stopchick as a web developer and Ian Young as a geologist. In Redmond, it hired Tyler Coy as a staff geotechnical engineer and Derek Shaw as a support services technician in the IT department. In Bellingham, it hired Joey Smith as a staff water resources engineer and in Tacoma it hired James West as a staff geotechnical engineer. GeoEngineers is a 300-person earth science, engineering and technology consulting firm headquartered in Seattle with 12 U.S. offices.
