Seattle's Stoel Rives named Beth Ugoretz managing partner. She rejoins after 10 years of executive-level business experience for Red Lion Hotels and KinderCare Learning Centers. Ugoretz will be chief executive officer and oversee business management. She succeeds Steve Kenyon, who will work through a transition period and also on strategic initiatives. Stoel Rives is a business law firm with operations throughout the western United States and more than 375 lawyers.
Concerned Women for America selected Maureen Richardson as state director for Washington. Richardson will work with 9,600 members to build prayer and action chapters, and coordinate the public policy organization's activities in legislation and media. The group's goal is to bring Biblical principles into public policy.
J. Michael Davis was named associate director for Department of Energy's Pacific Northwest National Laboratory energy science and technology directorate. Davis will oversee energy sector projects. Davis has 30 years of experience and was chief executive officer of Spokane companies ReliOn, formerly Avista Labs, and was the Department of Energy's assistant secretary for conservation and renewable energy. Davis replaces Mike Lawrence, who will focus on planning the lab's research campus, a task that includes relocating part of the facility for accelerated cleanup at Hanford. The lab is managed by Ohio-based Battelle since the lab's inception in 1965.
USA Baby, a retailer of infant and children's furniture, opened a new store near SouthCenter Mall in Tukwila. Nasif Kayed and Essmat and Mohammad Barazi are owners of the new store. USA Baby has 70 stores in the United States and Mexico.

Lacey company Oasis LifeSciences appointed Scotty Kufus director of business development. Kufus has more than 20 years of direct selling experience, including work as vice president of sales and marketing for Euniverse/24hourpaycheck.com and chief operating officer of Quantum Leap. Oasis LifeSciences is a natural products company with research capabilities.
Spokane Area Economic Development Council named Robin Toth economic planning specialist. Toth will manage economic development strategy and track results for community economic development initiatives. She will work with the city of Spokane and partner organizations to create economic and job growth. Toth was project manager of the city of Spokane's economic development department.
Dick McKinley of Bellingham was elected president of the Washington State chapter of the American Public Works Association. McKinley is public works director for the city of Bellingham. The association's Washington chapter has more than 1,000 members representing public agencies, and public works consultants and suppliers.

Fisher Communications announced the resignation of president and chief executive officer William W. Krippaehne Jr. Krippaehne also resigned as a member of the board of directors. The resignation was requested by the board. Benjamin W. Tucker, Jr. , currently president of subsidiary Fisher Broadcasting Co., will serve as acting president and chief executive officer. "With the corporate restructuring and refinancing work behind us, it is appropriate for the company to seek new leadership with more direct operating experience in the broadcasting business," Krippaehne said. Fisher Communications is a Seattle-based integrated media company, with television and radio stations.

Patty Henson is director of communications for Washington Department of Natural Resources. Henson was the department's government and constituent relations manager. Henson replaces Todd Myers, who is returning to private consulting. Henson was executive director for the Zoo Society at Tacoma's Point Defiance Zoo.
Seattle's Northstar Neuroscience named Nawzer Mehta vice president of clinical affairs and promoted Brad Gliner to vice president of research. Northstar develops medical devices to treat neurological disorders. Mehta was director of clinical research for Medtronic Vascular in Santa Rosa, Calif. Gliner was a co-founder of Heartstream, a developer and manufacturer of automatic external defibrillators.
