The Comprehensive Health Education Foundation, CHEF, added Anne M. Baunach as fund development director. Baunach was a resource development director at Green River Community College in Auburn and will plan fund development for CHEF. The Seattle foundation promotes health and quality of life through education, addressing topics as substance abuse, violence, HIV/AIDS and obesity. Cancer Lifeline announced Executive Director Barbara Frederick will retire from her position. Frederick worked at the Seattle nonprofit for 22 years, providing emotional and educational support to cancer patients and their families. A search is underway to find a successor. Cancer Lifeline helps more than 10,000 cancer patients and their families, co-workers and friends each year.

Cell cycle and cancer research expert Jim M. Roberts was named director of Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center's basic sciences division. He replaces Mark Groudine, who will be deputy director. Assisting Roberts are associate division directors Linda Buck, a 2004 Nobel laureate, and Jonathan Cooper. They replace former directors Susan Parkhurst and Barry Stoddard. The center is an independent nonprofit research institution.
TeleSym, a provider of mobile voice over solutions, named Shannon M. Maher chief technology officer and senior vice president of product development. Maher has 20 years of experience in technical strategy. Maher was vice president of wireless technology development for America Online, where he worked on instant messaging. TeleSym is based in Bellevue.

The Seattle chapter of the Legal Marketing Association named its board of directors: President Leslie F. Meagley of Meagley Strategic Marketing, Vice President Leslie Larson of Williams, Kastner & Gibbs, Immediate Past President Bill Kueser of Stoel Rives, Treasurer Rachel Anderson of Graham & Dunn PC and Secretary Dana Macario of Davis Wright Tremaine. They are based in Seattle. At-large board members are Julie Zola of Portland's Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt, and Gabe Tevrizian of Garvey Schubert Barer in Seattle. The nonprofit Legal Marketing Association's Seattle chapter represents marketing professionals from Northwest law firms.
The Lynnwood Convention Center appointed Manmohan (Mohnie) Mangat operations manager. Mangat will run technical operations including maintenance, supervision and staff training. Mangat has 12 years' experience in international project management and event planning. The 55,000-square-foot Lynnwood Convention Center is scheduled to open in the spring of this year at the intersection of 196th Street Southwest and 37th Avenue West.
Paul Hurn was recently hired as assistant vice president and retail office manager for Horizon Bank's new branch in Marysville. Hurn has 16 years' experience in banking and mortgage lending, and will manage operations. Horizon is headquartered in Bellingham and has operations in Whatcom, Skagit and Snohomish counties.
