Fusion Factory

The Seattle office of Salt Lake City-based Fusion Factory hired Anne Savery as a junior account manager and promoted Rowena Hatfield to assistant account executive. Savery was previously with CBS Marketwatch in Los Angeles. Hatfield was an account coordinator for Fusion Factory, an event planning and communications company.

Espresso Specialists

Seattle-based Espresso Specialists named Mark Crawford key accounts specialist and Kelly Traw director of marketing. Crawford previously owned and operated Caffeine Machines and Real Time Roasting in Portland. Traw was marketing director for a national consulting engineering firm. Espresso Specialists is an exclusive importer of Franke, La Marzocco and Rio espresso equipment, and provides training and service nationwide.

Oregon Health & Science University

Oregon Health & Science University in Portland has been named the site of One Sky Center, a research facility that will focus on combating drug and alcohol addiction among American Indians. One Sky Center is funded by an initial three-year federal grant of $3 million. Dr. R. Dale Walker, a psychiatrist at Oregon Health & Science University, has been named the center's executive director.

Northwest Suites & Housing Services

Redmond-based Northwest Suites & Housing Services named Nellie Kaminski, executive assistant to the president; Holly Guilbeault, reservations assistant; Gary Dutton, Northwest carpet cleaning supervisor; Joanne Portelle, managing broker for Northwest Homes; Trin Cardenas, housing services consultant; Eli Steurich, general maintenance; and Mary Lam, laundry assistant. Northwest Suites & Housing Services serves as a corporate housing provider to Microsoft, Amazon and Washington Mutual, and contracts with the Seattle Mariners, Seattle Storm, Seattle Seahawks and the Village Theatre.

Heather M. Ednie and Brenda L. Veldink are new agents for Country Insurance and Financial Services. Ednie and Veldink are based in Vancouver, at 16821 S.E. McGillivray Blvd.

League of Women Voters

The League of Women Voters named its new board of directors for 2003-2005: Judy Goldberg, president; Peggy Saari, vice president; Ed Chadd, second vice president; Betsy Greene, secretary; and Myra Howrey, treasurer. New elected directors are: Chris Chamberlin, Becky Cox, Marilyn Johnston, Pat Matteson, Laura McCarty, Barbara Seitle and Natalie Toevs. The nonprofit organization promotes citizen education and participation in the electoral process, and develops positions on public policy.

Preston Gates & Ellis

Four attorneys at Preston Gates & Ellis are currently serving as president of four major bar associations in Washington. James A. Andrus, partner and member of the firm's business department, is president of the Loren Miller Bar Association. Thomas E. Kelly, Jr., partner and litigator in the employment law department, is president of the King County Bar Association. Kevin D. Swan, of counsel in intellectual property law, Internet law, electronic commerce, and computer law, is president of the Federal Bar Association of the Western District of Washington. Kristi L. Helgeson, associate in the Technology and Intellectual Property Department, is president of Washington Women Lawyers.

Mule Deer Foundation

The Mule Deer Foundation has appointed Michael D. Jones as its Washington state chair, a volunteer leadership position within the organization. Jones is a former Spokane police officer currently working as an insurance investigator. The Mule Deer Foundation is a nonprofit conservation organization committed to ensuring the conservation of mule and blacktail deer and their habitats.

Allstate Insurance

Jessie C. Robare, exclusive agent for Allstate Insurance, has opened an agency in Federal Way. The agency, at 33606 Pacific Highway S., will sell auto, property, commercial and life insurance.

Ad 2 Seattle

New board members at Ad 2 Seattle are: Christy Ayres, president; Paige Andrews, vice president and communications co-chair; Amy Armstrong, executive chair; Dominic Wood, public service chair; Nina Iacono, education chair and communications co-chair; Melissa Chilson, government relations chair; and Megan Kemp, membership chair. Ad 2 Seattle is a nonprofit organization for young professionals interested in advertising or related fields.

Wells Fargo

Wells Fargo has launched a training initiative that will register half its store-based bankers as investments brokers within three years. In the Northwest, 50 bankers, including 15 in Washington, will be able to give investment advice by the end of 2003. The bank said that more than 100 store-based bankers in Washington will eventually be registered.
