Washington State University's Dennis Haarsager was recently elected to a three-year term on the board of directors of National Public Radio. He manages WSU's public television stations, and educational telecommunications and technology programs.

The Seattle law firm Foster Pepper & Shefelman added associates Jamie M. Goodwin, Laura E. Karassik and Derek P. de Bakker to its Seattle office. Goodwin is in the real estate practice group and focuses on condominium and homeowner association law. Karassik also works on real estate and was an associate at Gardner, Carton & Douglas in Chicago. De Bakker was an associate with Graham & Dunn PC in Seattle and focuses on mergers and acquisitions, and venture capital investments.
Devon Ryning, an associate in Miller Nash's intellectual property and entertainment practice areas, has been elected to the board of Consolidated Works and will serve a two-year term from 2005 to 2007. ConWorks is a Washington nonprofit that provides a contemporary arts center in Seattle. She also will be responsible for raising the visibility of ConWorks.
Roseburg, Ore.-headquartered Umpqua Bank, a subsidiary of Umpqua Holdings Corp., promoted senior vice presidents Lani Hayward and Barbara Baker to executive vice presidents. Hayward will lead marketing efforts and Baker will work on training and administer benefits. Each bank department will be incorporated under new names to better align with Umpqua Bank's corporate vision and culture.

Lisa Miner is the new human resources director for the law firm of Short Cressman & Burgess. She was an assistant office manager at Stoel Rives and a campaign coordinator for United Way.
The Federal Home Loan Bank of Seattle announced it will give $2.9 million in grants this year for affordable housing projects in six states. Funds will help create 418 units for low-income farmworkers, homeless mothers and their children, and households affected by developmental disabilities. They will be in Alaska, Montana, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.
The Golf Club at Echo Falls, located in Snohomish, named Kathy Blumstein general manager to oversee operations of the golf course and restaurant. Blumstein has held management jobs at General Mills and Kmart, and replaces Chris Ritchie, who has become a director at another Oki Golf facility, The Golf Club at Newcastle.
