How to move that million-pound tree

    Yesterday, David Cox was traveling from his home in Houston to Chicago to help the University of Illinois figure out how to move a big tree.

    This ficus tree, estimated by arborists to be worth $100,000, was discovered in a restaurant parking lot in West Palm Beach, Fla., and transported by barge to a botanical garden.

    The Texas native specializes in such projects, which involve relocating large trees that stand in the way of new construction or development. The idea is to move the trees, away from the path of new construction, to another site on the property.
