    Sheet-metal apprentices roofed six shelters this winter at Sprinker Recreation Center's new skate park in Spanaway. They learned architectural metal work while the center got free labor.

    SKATE PARKS are popping up around Washington. At most parks, kids learn to shred concrete, but at a new park in Spanaway, apprentices learned how to turn sheet metal into architecture.
