Lisa S. Verner, AICP has been named director of planning for Snoqualmie Ridge, in charge of directing entitlements for the second phase of the 1,340-acre planned community. She will also manage consulting and budgeting matters, as well as relationships with the city of Snoqualmie and members of the community.
Verner has worked for more than 20 years in the real estate industry, as an owner/user, speculative developer, public planning official and land use consultant. Most recently, she was principal of Commercial Development Solutions, a Seattle-based consulting firm she founded in 1990, which provided project management and entitlement services for clients such as Opus Northwest, Trammell Crow Co., AT&T Wireless, Puget Sound Energy and Port Blakely Communities. Verner has also worked for Metropolitan King County and the city of Bothell.
Verner will report to George Sherwin, senior vice president at Snoqualmie Ridge.
Snoqualmie Ridge is being developed by Weyerhaeuser Real Estate Company and managed by its subsidiary Quadrant.
Susan Murphy is on the move again. Murphy joined Equity Office Properties Trust as vice president of leasing for the Seattle region, moving over from leasing director for Seattle-based Wright Runstad & Co. Murphy has worked 25 years in real estate, 17 of them for Wright Runstad, though she left the development company a couple of years ago to take a real estate executive job at Amazon.com and then returned to Wright Runstad last year. EOP, a huge, Chicago-based office building owner that ranks as the Seattle-area's largest office landlord, assumed management of its Seattle-area properties almost a year ago from Wright Runstad, which has numerous links to EOP going back to Wright Runstad selling most of its buildings to EOP several years ago. The property management change left Wright Runstad with a rather small amount of space for which it conducts leasing. EOP's Pat Callahan, head of the Chicago-based office property owner's Seattle-area office, said: "It was more than expected that Susan Murphy would be offered the position."
River Park Square, Spokane's downtown shopping center, has a new national leasing director. The center's management company, R.W. Robideaux and Co., named to the post. Claypool has 14 years of marketing and real estate experience in West Coast cities. River Park is entering its final phase of initial leasing, Robideaux said.

Joel Droba is the new executive chef at the Golf Club at Newcastle. Droba previously served as executive chef and training chef at Gordon Biersch in Las Vegas. He will be responsible for all kitchen operations at the club including the Calcutta Grill, and operation of the banquet culinary teams.
Three recent graduates have joined the Seattle law firm of Hillis Clark Martin & Peterson as associates: Jerry N. Evans from the University of Michigan School of Law, Amy W. Myers of the University of Virginia Law School and Mary E. Crego of the University of Washington. Evan and Crego will focus their practice on commercial litigation. Meyer's practice will emphasize land use and business matters.
Vartan Gregorian, Ph.D. has joined the board of directors of Cell Therapeutics. Gregorian is a long-time advocate for educational and cultural organizations throughout the country and is current president of the Carnegie Corp. Previously, he was president of Brown University and president of the New York Public Library. Cell Therapeutics is focused on the treatment of cancer by developing, acquiring and commercializing therapies.
TeachFirst, a provider of teaching strategies, lesson materials and mentoring via the Internet, appointed Jim Patneaude vice president of sales. In this new position, Patneaude will lead national sales and distribution efforts. Previously, he served as general manager for Nextel.
Evergreen Manor has appointed Linda Grant executive director. Grant was director of program development at Pioneer Human Services. Evergreen provides drug and alcohol treatment in Snohomish County. The Everett-based company recently completed a 5,700-square-foot expansion and will open the Evergreen Manor Wall Street campus on Dec. 6.
Paul Capelle II is the new executive director of the Japanese-American Chamber of Commerce. Capelle recently lived in Japan and worked for several Japanese corporations. The chamber is a statewide organization that assists the Japanese-American and Japanese communities to re-connect culturally
