GeoEngineers recently hired Jim Kleppe as corporate business development director in its Redmond office. He will lead the business development and client relations activities for the firm’s 11 offices. Kleppe brings 27 years of experience in key technical, managerial and business development positions. He is a leader in both geotechnical and environmental work and has served as a corporate marketing manager and client relations consultant.
Galan McInelly has been promoted to office manager for the Redmond, Seattle and Everett offices. He will have overall managerial, fiscal and business development responsibilities. During his 13 years with the firm, McInelly has been instrumental in developing its geologic and water resource services, and in managing strategic environmental and geohazard projects throughout the western U.S.
GeoEngineers is a 200-person firm offering diverse geotechnical, environmental, geologic, ground water, GIS, ecological, permitting and Endangered Species Act consulting services.
Bohlin Cywinski Jackson announced that Steve Mongillo has been promoted to associate. After joining Bohlin Cywinski Jackson in the summer of 1998, Mongillo has worked on the Issaquah library; a residential compound near Flathead Lake, Mont.; the Gosline residence in Seattle and is currently working on a large private residence in Park City, Utah.
Bohlin Cywinski Jackson, founded in 1965, has offices in Seattle, Berkeley and Pittsburgh. The firm's Seattle experience includes Seattle City Hall, William Gates' residential compound and the Ballard library.
Harris & Associates hired Sam Yagmaie in the Seattle regional office. As a senior project manager with 21 years of experience, he will responsible for management and oversight of all of civil, structural and geotechnical projects.
Hopper Dennis Jellison of Vancouver recently announced the addition of three staff members. Maureen P. White joins project engineer and project manager. White brings varied experience in transportation and site work design along with related project management. Stacey A. Shields joins the firm as a land use planner. Shields adds a background of experience in land use planning and project coordination in southern Washington and northern Oregon. Bonnie L. Cross joins as marketing coordinator. Cross has worked in marketing for the engineering community and most recently was a marketing and client services representative for a company in the printing industry. HDJ provides expertise in civil, transportation, traffic, utility and water resources engineering, as well as construction management services and land use planning.
Rice Fergus Miller Architecture & Planning of Bremerton recently hired Andrew Kosusko as a project manager and architect. His addition brings the firm's size to 16. Kosusko has 10 years of experience in architecture, including single- and multi-family housing, mixed-use, hospitality, retirement, municipal and recreation projects. His background also includes an education in civil engineering and involvement with the city of Bremerton Planning Commission
The Break The Glass Ceiling foundation has established an online resource for women and minorities seeking job resources and networking opportunities at the Web site www.breaktheglassceiling.com. The site also features a forum for discussions. The Seattle foundation helps women, minorities, deaf individuals, blind, physically disabled, sexual minorities and individuals suffering from age discrimination.
Wells Fargo announced plans to open its first full-service banking store in Bellingham. Construction is expected to begin in early spring. The 6,300-square-foot store will be constructed at Barkley Avenue and Orleans Street and will include a night drop for business customers, safe deposit boxes, six teller windows, two drive-up teller lanes and one drive-up ATM. Lori Fitzpatrick Husa, district manager for Northern Washington will mange the new store.
Jake Reagan will be executive chef departe at Ponti Seafood while Ponti's current executive chef, Tom Hollywood, spends a six-month educational hiatus in France. Reagan previously worked with Arnaud's Restaurant New Orleans, the Oyster Bar on Chuckanut Drive and the Barking Frog at the Willows Lodge. He joined Ponti as sous chef in June.
Cognigen Networks named Gary Cook and James H. Shapiro new board members. Cook is an independent financial consultant and licensed certified public accountant in Castle Rock, Colo. Shapiro is currently CEO of Windermere Services in Seattle. Cognigen Networks, based in Seattle, offers telecommunications services and related technology products.
Formare Technica of Portland is in the process of acquiring Achievement By Design of Poulsbo. Achievement By Design's founder Ted Buffington will become CEO for Formare Educational Institute upon completion of the acquisition. Formare Educational Institute, a subsidiary of Formare Technica, provides education for more productive business practices.
The Portfolio Restaurant at The Art Institute of Seattle, featuring the work of students completing the six-quarter culinary program at the school, is open for lunch and dinner during the current quarter. Reservations can be made by calling (206) 239-2363. Lunch and dinner is served Wednesday through Friday.
Ed Evans has joined Crownover Construction as project manager. Evans was recently with S.D. Deacon and Sea-Con as a project manager. His new responsibilities include bidding, estimating and running projects he secures.
Jose M. de Iturriaga has joined Bellevue-based KJM & Associates as its northeast regional manager. Based in KJM’s New York office, de Iturriaga will be responsible for business development and marketing in addition to management of KJM’s projects and overall operations for the region. He has over 30 years of experience in project and construction management, civil engineering design and field operations. He holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering and has completed graduate studies at the University of Madrid. He also is a registered professional engineer in the states of New York and Connecticut.
BMW-Pilchuck Constructors has changed its name to BMWC Constructors. The Kent-based contractor changed its name after being asked by automobile manufacturer BMW to switch it to avoid confusion between the two companies.
Elliott Bay Design Group announced that Jason Bone has joined the staff as an engineer. A recent graduate of University of Michigan, Bone holds a bachelor of science in engineering and a masters of science in naval architecture and marine engineering, specializing in marine structures. Prior to joining the firm, Bone completed internships at Avondale Shipyard working on new oil tanker construction and CSC's Advanced Marine Division.
