The Seattle office of Coffman Engineers recently restructured. Keith Elder has taken the role of general manager of the Seattle office. Scott Mohr, formerly the Seattle general manager, divides his time between the project management group and Coffman's overall marketing efforts. David Poetker has been appointed director of engineering for Coffman's structural, mechanical and electrical disciplines.
Coffman Engineers is a multi-discipline firm offering structural, mechanical, electrical engineering, as well as automation and controls, lighting design, energy analysis and sustainable building advisors. The firm has 160 employees, with offices in Seattle, Spokane, Anchorage and Los Angeles.

USDA Rural Development named Philip M. Eggman public affairs specialist for the state of Washington. Eggman was media/marketing officer for Commander Submarine Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet, where he coordinated news coverage for submarines supporting Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom out of Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Rural Development provides equity and technical assistance to increase homeownership, business development, and community and technology infrastructure.
The Washington Small Business Development Center Network named Rick Thorpe, Washington State University business development specialist, 2003 Star Performer for his contribution to the SBDC program. SBDC, based in Spokane, is a cooperative effort of Washington State University, Western Washington University, community colleges, economic development organizations and the U.S. Small Business Administration that provides assistance to small businesses.
Seattle Parks and Recreation presented Denny Awards to Starbucks Coffee Co. and three community activists including Tim Amen of Green Lake Rowing Advisory Council; Joyce Moty of Friends of Bradner Gardens Park; and Bruce Bentley, chair of the Board of Park Commissioners. The Denny Awards are presented to volunteers who contribute to the success of Seattle Parks and Recreation facilities and programs.
St. Croix Shop, a clothing manufacturer and retailer based in Winona, Minn., opened at Pacific Place in downtown Seattle. The store is located on the third level of the shopping center.
The Fearey Group, a Seattle-based public relations firm, added 10 new accounts to its client roster. They include 2200 Westlake, Cristalla, Port of Seattle, Cushman & Wakefield and Williams Marketing to its real estate division; The Rainier Group and RW Smith Fixed Income to its financial division; Cascade Land Conservancy to its not-for-profit division; and Build the Streetcar Campaign and the Seattle Monorail Project to its public affairs division. Additionally, the firm hired Joanne Nelson as account supervisor and Holly Mendel as account coordinator. Natalie Quick was promoted to account supervisor and Linnea Westerlind and Erin Krause were promoted to senior account executives.
Alaskan Brewing Co. was presented two medals at the 2003 Great American Beer Festival. The Alaskan Smoked Porter won the bronze medal in the smoked beer category and the Alaskan Barleywine, a limited edition beer, won a silver medal in the barleywine style ale category. Alaskan Brewing Co. is based in Juneau, Alaska.

Schlecht Construction has become a certified contractor for Varco-Pruden Buildings, a maker of pre-engineered steel buildings. Varco-Pruden selectively partners with contractors for construction of its buildings. Schlecht has offices in Longview and Vancouver.
The Northern District of the Associated General Contractors of Washington has relocated its offices to 1221 Railroad Ave., Bellingham, WA 98225. Its phone and fax numbers remain the same.
