Hodgson/Meyers, a Kirkland-based marketing and creative services agency, hired Erin McNiff as project manager and Rachel Omiliak as online marketing specialist. McNiff has worked at marketing and creative agencies aQuantive and Cole & Weber United on such brands as the Washington Lottery and TiVo. Omiliak has four years of experience working with Google and various marketing analytics programs.
Bothell-based SonoSite, a specialist in bedside and point of care ultrasound, announced Kirby Cramer will retire as non-executive chairman of the board of directors. Robert Hauser, who has been a member of the board since 2004, will take his place. Cramer will continue to serve as a director until SonoSite's 2011 meeting of shareholders. He has been with the company since 1998.
The city of Seattle's Latino City Employees Organization is accepting nominations for its Sixth Annual Latino Heritage Award. The award will be presented by the mayor at a public ceremony Oct. 14. For information on criteria and the nomination procedure, visit tiny.cc/aiqj9.

Reischling Press Inc. of Seattle named David Gens as executive vice president and chief financial officer. Gens, former CFO of TAS Group and Ivey Imaging, has more than 20 years of experience in financial management. RPI produces photo books, greeting cards and stationery products for retailers and photo publishers.
Seattle's Maxwell Hotel appointed Tyler Suddith assistant general manager. He will oversee the front desk. Suddith worked as guest services manager at Tulalip Resort Casino.
The Washington Association of Sewer & Water Districts has recognized several members: Lee Mellish for his service to Liberty Lake Sewer & Water District, Clark Regional Wastewater District for professional management, Hartstene Point Water-Sewer District for establishing a new water-sewer district, Dan Eisses for professional competence and technical expertise, and Roger Christofferson for service to the association.


Scott Schaffer is new executive director of Common Ground, a nonprofit that preserves and creates housing for low-income and special-needs people in Washington. Schaffer was principal of Public Interest Management Group, where he consulted with nonprofit clients. He also has worked with Philabundance, a hunger relief organization in Philadelphia, as well as Olympic Park Institute and NPower. He was active in Philadelphia's emergency shelter system, and founded Community Alliance for Affordable Housing. Schaffer succeeds Lynn Davison, who retired.
Today Vulcan is unveiling the first-of-its-kind transit and neighborhood amenity touch-screen kiosk in the lobby of Amazon.com's building at 500 Boren Ave. N. Users can see real-time arrivals for Metro buses and streetcars, and find nearby restaurants, shops and services. Hornall Anderson designed the 40-inch, map-based kiosk. The goal is to encourage alternative modes of transit.
Phoenix-based Cole Real Estate Investments, the new owner of the City Center Plaza office tower in downtown Bellevue, promoted Clint Marchuk to director of acquisitions. Since joining Cole in 2007, he has been involved in the acquisition of more than $1 billion of commercial real estate.
