Since taking over two failed banks in the Puget Sound region early last year, Umpqua Bank has been not-so-quietly making its mark in the Seattle area.
Roseburg, Ore.-based Umpqua, which had $11.6 billion in assets at the end of last year, hired veteran banker John Swanson as senior VP and manager of commercial real estate in Washington. His goal: expand Umpqua's Puget Sound real estate loan portfolio.
