On the Block: A long and winding road to the 128-unit Zella apartments on Lower Queen Anne
“We've been a little under the radar screen,” says developer Tejal Pastakia.
We're talking about her long-brewing apartment project at 429 Second Ave. W. in Lower Queen Anne. The corner site, at West Republican Street, is currently home to the three-story Mariner apartments, which were constructed in 1947. That 20-unit building, owned since the 1980s by the local Anderson family, will be demolished so the family can redevelop the site with what is now called the Zella apartments.
