Northwest Multiple Listing Service

Craig Kline of Centralia was elected chairman of the Northwest Multiple Listing Service for 2003. Kline is president and designated broker for Coldwell Banker Kline & Associates. He becomes the first NWMLS chairman from Lewis County. Meribeth Hutchings of Windermere Real Estate-Lake Stevens, is the new vice chair. Dick Fulton of Coldwell Banker Bain's Lake Union office is secretary. Rick Schutte of Coldwell Banker Koetje Real Estate in Oak Harbor is treasurer.

Eight other brokers were elected to the 14-county listing service's 24-member board for this year: Matt Carroll of Windermere in Seattle, Don Dutton of Coldwell Banker Bain in Federal Way, Michael Grady of Coldwell Banker Bain in Mercer Island, Susan Hayes of John L. Scott in Federal Way, Sue Lantz of Windermere/Allen & Associates in Longview, Mike Larson of Harold A. Allen Co. in Tacoma, Presha Sparling of Gerrard Beattie & Knapp of Seattle and Gary Wright of Coldwell Banker-Gary Wright Real Estate in Marysville.

Housing Finance Commission

A new program will offer non-profit organizations in the state access to low-interest loans of up to $500,000. The Washington State Housing Finance Commission and the Washington Community Reinvestment Association have begun offering the program, called Capital Plus. The "below-market loans" are available for non-profits needing facility or equipment financing. The housing commission will initially put up $3 million that the reinvestment association will administer. For more information, see www.wshfc.org and www.wcra.net.

Donita Rachell joined Bianco Properties as the St. Louis, Mo.-based firm's director of leasing, in charge of retail and industrial leasing portfolio-wide, including at Bianco's two retail properties in the Puget Sound area. Bianco owns Lynnwood Plaza and the Rainier Place shopping center in Tacoma. Rachell has 20 years experience in leasing and sales in St. Louis, where she'll be based.

Trilogy at Redmond Ridge

Diana Lynn Ultican became community director for Shea Homes' Trilogy at Redmond Ridge, the 1,500-home master-planned community for active seniors on the east side of Redmond. Ultican will expose residents to programs, facilities and activities, and manage the homeowners' association. She's working on a pioneering educational partnership with the University of Washington. Before Trilogy, Ultican was president of three large Pacific Northwest travel agencies: AST Travel Management, Satellite Travel Systems and Stellar Travel. She was project director of a coalition of Protestant, Catholic, Jewish and Muslim Americans who built the multi-faith Habitat for Humanity homes at Snoqualmie Ridge.

Broker Eric Cederstrand was named senior vice president for Colliers International's Tacoma office. Cederstrand has been with Colliers since 1998 and has 14 years experience as a commercial broker.

Mark J. Barak, recently joined the Seattle law firm Short Cressman & Burgess and will be practicing in the Real Estate section. Short Cressman has been serving the community for 87 years, in areas such as business, commercial litigation, real estate, tax, estate planning and family law.

Val Tomey joined Sage Real Estate Strategies as one of the new Seattle-based firm's five principals. Tomey rejoins Jim Norman, Sage's founder, with whom she worked in the 1990s at The Norman Co. as general manager of the 76-story Bank of America Tower. Norman sold the Norman Co. to Trammell Crow in the late 1990s. He retired until forming Sage last year, while Tomey stayed with Trammell as a senior vice president and alliance director on the Swedish Medical Center account. Tomey managed assignments for other clients such as Microsoft and KeyCorp. As an International Habitat for Humanity volunteer, Tomey has helped build homes in Poland, Hungary, Kyrgyzstan and elsewhere.

Lorig Associates

George Osborne was promoted to one of four principals of Lorig Associates, a Seattle urban development firm. The 17-year veteran joins Bruce Lorig, Harris Hoffman and Hal Ferris as principals. Osborne oversees technical aspects of development projects during design and construction and runs maintenance for 1,800 apartments and 350,000 square feet of commercial space. Osborne has worked on Uwajimaya Village, Queen Anne High School Apartments, Seattle Tennis Club renovation, Victoria Townhomes and Condominiums, and the Thurston County Courthouse.

Trammell Crow

Trammell Crow Senior Vice President Tom Pehl was promoted to principal in the Seattle office. Pehl joined Trammell in December 1999 supporting corporate clients in the western U.S. He became deputy alliance director for the Group Health Cooperative account, and alliance director in late 2000, heading a team of 100 associates, and group leader in August 2002. As a principal, he'll continue working on Group Health and other key investor and corporate relationships in the Seattle area.

Bowers Realty

In Chehalis, evangelist and former Yard Birds Mall manager Jerry Van Ronk joined Bowers Realty as a commercial broker. "I desire to be part of the exciting growth (of Lewis County) over the next decade," said Van Ronk, whose experience includes being a general contractor remodeling repossessed property, retail management and leasing. A Bowers announcement said he is better known in the Lewis County area as an evangelist and speaker in several area churches.

Preview Properties' Bothell-Mill Creek office added 16 new residential sales associates: Noelle Song, Thomas Klein, Cindy Nguyen, Richard Vanasek (from John L. Scott), Donald Clark (from C-21 Smith/Ring), Richard Turner, Ralph Ehrlich, Ken Casalicchio (from C-21 Stars), Jim Rosholt (from RE/MAX), Kay Rosholt (from RE/MAX), Kim Pulliam, Jacob Predmore, Michael Gregory (from Windermere WRE), Brian Bystrom (from Coldwell Banker), Gloria Rueda and Marie Smith.

Seven people joined Preview's Marysville office: Barbara Alfond, Jan Bindus (from Keller Williams), Chris Smith, Curtis Williamson, Bruce Guest (from Windermere), Linda Hamilton (from Shaw & Associates) and Susan VanBuskirk. The Stanwood office also hired seven: Timothy Adrian, Randy Jacobsen, Carol and Traci Monnick, Mark Brunner, Jay Slack and Lloyd Wooden.

In Everett, the firm's largest office, hired: Stephanie Costnor, Leslie Lytle (from Windermere), Carol Young (from C-21), Chris Ervine, Richard Steigenga (from C-21), Patty Monteith (from RE/MAX), Josie Hernandez (from RE/MAX), Jene Elliott (from C-21 North Homes) and Linda Senter (from RE/MAX).

Preview's corporate sales center added: Maria Corcorro, Tron Leaf, David Van Liew, Hellmut Pedersen (from C-21), John Sullivan, Tami Tuck (from C-21) and Samir Wehbe.

John L. Scott

Martha Viola became a sales associate in John L. Scott Real Estate's Belltown office. Four people joined the firm's Bellevue North office: Matt Stapleton, Nicole Young, Catherine Bunch and Kate Johnson. Heather Eul started in the Bellevue South office.

Xiao Li Gish and Cindy Farrow started at Bonney Lake/Lake Tapps. In Burien, Sherry Johnson, Bill Darnell and Kalina Brown became sales associates. Roberta Wagner signed on at Gig Harbor. Clayton Walker and Dave Hackett joined the Highlands office.

Eileen Tefft began selling in Issaquah. Susan Troka started in Kingston. Kimberly Salazar, Abby Gorder and Shannon Fralin joined the Kirkland office.

Watermark Credit Union

Watermark Credit Union will hold a grand opening ceremony on Feb. 26 at its new location at 18801 Alderwood Mall Parkway in Lynnwood. The not-for-profit credit union recently changed its name from Seattle Telco Credit Union and has additional branches in downtown Seattle, Redmond, Southcenter and Bellevue.
