S-J Management, through its affiliate Monterra Associates LLC, bought the 258-unit Monterra Apartments in Phoenix for $18.16 million. It's the fifth time since July 2003 that a limited liability company formed and managed by S-J has acquired a Class A, institutional core asset in Arizona. S-J is one of the more active buyers of large multifamily properties in Washington and Arizona. It owns and manages 793 units in Arizona and 2,407 in Washington.
Seattle real estate company Madison House Ltd., has joined the Sotheby's International Realty franchise network. It now operates as Madison House Ltd. Sotheby's International Realty. Kitty Hughes owns the 23-year-old brokerage at 4227 E. Madison St. It has 17 sales associates, who rang up approximately $70 million in sales last year, with an average home sale price of $650,000.
John Powers, president and CEO of Enterprise Seattle (formerly known as the Economic Development Council of Seattle and King County) will speak at the noon Dec. 9 CREW lunch at the Washington Athletic Club, 1325 Sixth Ave., Seattle. Powers was Spokane's first full-time mayor, serving from 2000-04. Lunch is $29.50 for members with reservations and $45 for nonmembers. Urban Land Institute's breakfast program, "Emerging Trends in Real Estate 2005," will be at 7 a.m. Dec. 14 at the Hyatt Regency, 900 Bellevue Way N.E., Bellevue. Peter F. Korpacz, director of Pricewaterhouse Coopers Real Estate Practice, is the speaker. Panelists are Jim DeLisle of the UW's Runstad Center for Real Estate Studies, Christopher J. Hartung of Wells Fargo Securities and Michael J. Parks, editor and publisher of Marples Pacific Northwest Letter. Cost ranges from $25 for students who are ULI members to $50 for nonmembers.
