Portland-based Norris, Beggs & Simpson Cos. made some leadership changes including naming its first female CEO, Jan Robertson. She joined NBS in 1981 in an administrative position, became a partner in 1993 and has been CFO since 2005. CEO is a new position in the company. J. Clayton Hering was president of NBS Cos. as well as two divisions, NBS Financial Services and NAI Norris Beggs & Simpson. He now is chairman of the board, while longtime company partner Chris Johnson is the new president of NAI Norris, Beggs & Simpson, and Ken Griggs is the new president of NBS Financial Services. Hering will be involved in strategic planning, mentoring, business development and community affairs. H. Roger Qualman is COO of NAI Norris, Beggs & Simpson. Jeff Borlaug, principal and managing director of brokerage, will increase his management of Portland brokerage operations.
Bluestone & Hockley Real Estate Services of Portland and Vancouver has partnered with the national firm Sperry Van Ness to expand its commercial brokerage. Karlin Conklin is managing director and oversees brokerage activities for the company, now known as Sperry Van Ness/Bluestone & Hockley. The deal gives Bluestone franchising rights for Sperry in the Portland area.
Mike King joined the commercial division at NAI Black in Spokane. He was with Stonemark Real Estate, where he specialized in industrial and commercial sales and leasing.
Nominations for NAIOP's Night of the Stars are due Friday. Nominees do not need to be NAIOP members. Projects and deals must have been substantially completed between June of 2010 and August of 2011 to qualify. Night of the Stars will be Nov. 4 at the Bellevue Hyatt Regence. In conjunction with NAIOP's Night of the Stars, the Washington chapter of CoreNet is giving an award to a company that demonstrates management excellence. Urban Land Institute members will present their recommendations on what Kirkland can do to revitalize the Totem Lake business district. The presentation is 3 p.m. Wednesday in the Donald H. Argue Health and Sciences Center at Northwest University, 5520 108th Ave. N.E., in Kirkland. The city asked ULI to focus on the area south of Evergreen Hospital Medical Center and Totem Lake Mall.

Sam Ziemba joined the Bellevue office of Colliers as a vice president. He was with the company's London division, and now specializes in Eastside landlord and tenant representation.
Kirkland-based Northwest Multiple Listing Service selected Instanet Solutions' Authentisign system as its electronic signature product. Northwest MLS President and CEO Tom Hurdelbrink said this gives the MLS's more than 22,000 real estate brokers and their clients a secure way to electronically execute contracts. The service will be available this fall for a monthly fee.
Portland-based Bluestone & Hockley Real Estate Services said its maintenance department is now a separate entity. This allows the company to serve a broader market, said Bluestone Executive Vice President Elena Tangman-Wells. Bluestone & Hockley Maintenance is licensed in Oregon and Washington, and will work on retail, multi-family, housing, institutional and commercial properties.
Marcus & Millichap is hosting free webcasts on the outlook for different real estate sectors. Bill Rose, the national retail group director, is a presenter for the retail webcast on Tuesday. Marcus & Millichap Capital Managing Director William E. Hughes is a presenter for the apartment program July 19. Alan L. The Seattle district council of the Urban Land Institute is holding a July 21 panel discussion and walking tour of Ballard.
