Federal Way-based BergerABAM appointed M. Lee Marsh as president and chief executive officer effective June 1. He will succeed Arnfinn (Arnie) Rusten, who retires May 31. Marsh, who holds a Ph.D., joined the firm in 1994 and has spearheaded many seismic design and assessment projects. As senior project manager and principal, his projects have included bridges, transit guideways, marine structures, buildings, and specialized work such as cranes for nuclear power plants. He also has been on the board of directors since 2006. Rusten became CEO in 2005 and has helped BergerABAM double its revenues and staff. The firm provides civil and structural engineering, planning, environmental services, public involvement, construction management and support, surveying, and underwater inspection services. It has more than 230 staff.



Swenson Say Faget hired Ryan McKinney and Brian Richter as project engineers and Alex Dow as a staff engineer. McKinney was with Magnusson Klemencic Associates for two years. He is working on Camp Don Bosco for the Catholic Archdiocese. Richter worked for a year at MKA. His projects include Columbia Confluence, a workforce housing complex in Cashmere. Dow previously was with Seattle Structural and AUE in Bellevue. He is working on Redmond Valley Furniture and 1200 Pike Street. Swenson Say Faget is a structural engineering firm with offices in Seattle and Tacoma.

Ericka Colvin of Yost Grube Hall Architecture has become an architect in Oregon. Colvin has seven years of experience at firms in Oregon and Massachusetts, and has been with YGH since 2013. YGH provides planning, architecture and interior design.

Geosyntec Consultants hired Charles S. Wisdom, Ph.D., as a senior consultant in its Pacific Northwest water resources practice, which provides stormwater management, stormwater impacts, best management practices, NPDES permit compliance, endangered species biological assessments and NEPA compliance.





THA Architecture promoted Tracey Bascue, Scott Mannhard, Scott Mooney, Nic Smith and Matt Sugarbaker to associate. Bascue joined the firm in 2008 and is creative lead of interior architecture. She is working on new office space for Puppet Labs of Portland. Mannhard, a project architect, was hired in 2011. He is working on the Black Butte Ranch Lodge redevelopment. Mooney, a project architect, was hired in 2007. He is working on Renton Highlands Library. Project architect Smith joined THA in 2009. He is working on a project for the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Central Oregon. Project architect Sugarbaker was hired in 2012. He is working on Oregon State University's Austin Hall College of Business.
Marnie O'Brien Primmer joined Transpo Group as director of strategic business development in the Newport Beach, California, office. She will work on corporate strategic growth, business planning and marketing, and with clients on transportation policy and communications. She was executive director of Southern California-based Mobility 21, a coalition focused on securing transportation funding for the region. Transpo Group is a transportation planning, engineering and technology firm.

Berger Partnership hired Camille Mahan, Stephanie Woirol and Jasmeen Bains to the landscape architecture staff. Mahan is a recent graduate of Purdue University who won a 2013 ASLA Student Honor Award. She is working on Nordstrom stores and 1511 Dexter, an affordable housing project. Woirol holds a master's of landscape architecture from the University of Oregon with undergraduate studies at the University of California, Santa Cruz. She is working on the Lincoln Square expansion. Bains holds a master's in landscape architecture from the University of Toronto. She is working on the Seattle Waterfront. Berger provides landscape architecture and urban design services.


EHS Design hired AJ Wright as a senior architect and Beate Hohmann-Koloyartsev as resource librarian and design assistant. Wright has experience in hospitality, retail, financial and federal projects. Hohmann-Koloyartsev will help teams with interior design concepts, construction documents and project manuals. The Seattle-based firm provides architecture, interior design, space planning and facilities planning.

WHPacific hired Matthew “Matt” Faulkner as a project manager in the Vancouver office. Faulkner has more than 13 years of experience in surveying and is a Certified Federal Surveyor. He has worked on transmission lines in the Northwest and done cadastral surveys of multiple townships. He previously worked at Mackay Sposito. WHPacific provides transportation, water/environment, development/facilities, energy, construction/project management, and surveying and scanning services.

Trindera Engineering hired John Coffman as a senior electrical engineer in its Spokane office. Coffman previously was senior facilities electrical engineer for Maxim Integrated. He will work in the industrial, manufacturing and wood products markets. Trindera is an electrical and control systems engineering and consulting firm, with an office also in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

Sparling hired Thomas Richey as project manager, technology consulting in the Portland office. Richey has more than 20 years of experience in consulting, design and operation of telecommunications voice/data infrastructure and communications systems. He is project director for the Oregon State Capitol renovation. Sparling is an electrical, technology, audiovisual, acoustical and lighting design firm, with offices also in Lynnwood and San Diego.

Puget Sound area project management and architecture firm Greene Gasaway promoted Jesse Ahlberg to partner. Ahlberg has been with the company since 2000. Greene Gasaway specializes in K-12 schools and recently celebrated its 30th anniversary.

Architects Rasmussen Triebelhorn of Tacoma hired Gail Merth as director of design. Merth has more than 20 years of commercial design experience on educational facilities and master planning. She is working on the Yakima County Resource Center, a 9-1-1 emergency and medical call center in Eastern Washington. The 40-year-old firm provides architectural services, with a focus on criminal justice facilities.


David Turner and Mike Wood with Elliott Bay Design Group earned the Project Management Professional designation. Turner has more than 12 years of naval architecture experience. Wood has more than 13 years of experience in shipyard production engineering and design. Seattle-based EBDG provides naval architecture, marine engineering and production support services.
