Peter McCoy is the new executive chef at Roy's Seattle, located in the Westin Hotel. McCoy will oversee food operations at the restaurant, lobby bar and the Fifth Avenue Cafe. He has been with the Westin since 1990. Roy's menu fuses Hawaiian inspiration with native Northwest ingredients.
Fred B. Burnside has joined Davis Wright Tremaine's litigation department as an associate. Burnside previously was with the firm of Milberg Weiss Bershad Hynes & Lerach of San Diego. Shelley Hall rejoined the firm after a judicial clerkship with the late Honorable William L. Dwyer. She will be an associate in the firm's communications, media and information technologies, and litigation departments.
Richard Levy was named vice president and corporate controller at Safeco. Levy was previously with Washington Mutual, serving most recently as chief financial officer for its specialty finance business unit. He replaces Paul Lowber, Safeco's controller for the past five years, who will remain with the company through the end of August to assist in the transition. Levy will join a team led by Chris Mead, chief financial officer, which includes recently appointed Ajay Kaul as vice president of financial planning and Terri Williams as vice president of risk management and chief actuary.
Cole & Weber/red cell named Stephanie Dalton interactive producer and Stacey Kinkead interactive account supervisor. They will join the firm's integrated marketing team for Microsoft. Dalton has worked for Sierra Online and Microsoft’s MSN. Kinkead most recently worked with Amazon.com's affiliate program and CRM e-mail system.
Downtown Seattle’s West Edge Neighborhood has been named Neighborhood of the Year by Neighborhoods USA. The award was presented to the Metropolitan Improvement District Advisory Board, which oversees the West Edge project. The West Edge renaming project grew out of the desire of neighborhood businesses to provide the area, known for its independent merchants and artistic talent, with a stronger identity. West Edge encompasses First, Second, and Western avenues, south of Belltown and north of Pioneer Square and contains Pike Place Market, Seattle Art Museum and Benaroya Hall.

Debbie D. Taglialavore and D. Gregory Williams were named business banking vice presidents; and Sylvia See and Theresa Mizuki Luciano were named private banking presidents.
The new team will be led by Kirk A. Bottles, executive vice president and will focus on building the bank's business in King County.
New officers for the Downtown Seattle Association board of trustees are Matt Griffin, Pine Street Group, chairman; Mike Flynn, Puget Sound Business Journal, first vice chair; Carla Murray, Sheraton Seattle Hotel & Towers, vice chair; and Mark Houtchens, Vance Corp., treasurer. John C. McCullough of Phillips McCullough Wilson Hill & Fikso will remain as general counsel. Also, new board members are former Seattle mayor Norman Rice, Federal Home Loan Bank of Seattle; George Griffin, Gogerty Stark Marriott; Pat Callahan, Equity Office Properties; and David Yuan, NBBJ.
The Center for Urban Horticulture at the University of Washington has so far raised more than $400,000 to help rebuild buildings lost to arson last May. The center is allowing donors to purchase floor tiles with an engraved leaf pattern and donor's names to pave the new center's lobby. For information visit www.urbanhort.org. Other funding sources include the Miller Charitable Fund of Seattle, which has pledged matching funds and the Northwest Horticultural Society, which has established a $55,000 fund and pledged an additional $200,000 for library furnishings and shelving.
The Washington Automatic Fire Alarm Association has merged into the Washington Burglar & Fire Alarm Association to become part of the National Burglar & Fire Alarm Association based in Silver Spring, Md. The national organization, founded in 1948, represents more than 3,200 member companies in 43 states.
