Carl Kese has been named a reverse mortgage specialist at the Seattle Financial Freedom Bank. Kese was most recently with Source Capital Corporation and is a former vice president of Seafirst Bank. Financial Freedom Bank, specializing in reverse mortgages, is a subsidiary of Lehman Brother's Bank.

Jennifer MacKay was recently elected to serve as president of the Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace, the union representing 24,000 Boeing employees. MacKay is the former SPEEA secretary and is the first woman to lead the union in its nearly 60-year history. She is a manufacturing engineer at Boeing's Spokane plant. Also elected to the SPEEA board were Thomas McCarty, an engineer at the Boeing Space Center in Kent, as treasurer and Joe Newberry, a software engineer at Boeing's plant in Wichita, as secretary.

Tom Norwalk is the new chief operating officer at Seattle Hospitality Group. Most recently, Norwalk served as the general manager of The Golf Club at Newcastle. He will be responsible for the day-to-day operations at the Seattle Hospitality Group.

Graham & Dunn named Wendy Beth Olive as an attorney in its Seattle office. Oliver's practice is focused on corporate law, corporate finance, contract negotiation, real estate and insolvency.

Northwest Area Foundation

Kristin Martinez was named to the board of directors at the Northwest Area Foundation. Martinez is a principal at the Seattle-based Sound Point Ventures. Bruce Brooks, also representing the Seattle area, was reelected as vice chair. The Northwest Area Foundation helps communities in Minnesota, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, Idaho, Washington and Oregon to reduce poverty. the organization is based in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Home Depot

Larry Mercer, executive vice president of Home Depot has announced his retirement. Mercer, who joined the company in 1978, led store operations in the company's 1,400 locations. He will remain with the Atlanta-based store as an adviser to the chairman and chief executive until Feb. 2004. Troy Rice, named senior vice president of operations, will assume Mercer's position. Rice was most recently president of the Northwest division in Seattle. Eric Peterson, most recently regional vice president for the South Atlantic region, will replace Rice as Northwest division president. The company also announced it will test a new concept with the opening of three stand-alone landscaping stores in the Atlanta area, called Home Depot Landscape Supply.

N2H2

N2H2 named former Microsoft executive Dawn Trudeau to its board of directors. Trudeau spent 14 years at Microsoft, during which time she oversaw the launch of Microsoft Access, and eventually rose to the level of general manager before leaving to become a business consultant and venture philanthropist. Trudeau's appointment at N2H2 fills the vacancy left by the departure of Alan J. Higginson.

Quality Business Systems has moved its corporate headquarters to a 32,000-square-foot facility at 22509 SR9 SE, #101. The company has been based in Washington since 1977. Quality Business Systems is part of Global Imaging Systems which provides office technology solutions from 137 locations in 27 states and the District of Columbia.

Cole & Weber/red cell

Brenda Narciso was named account director in the customer relations marketing department of Cole & Weber/red cell. Narciso will guide the agency's various Microsoft projects and provide account management support for its WatchGuard account. Narciso previously worked with Microsoft in marketing and advertising with the Visio and Microsoft Project groups.
