Public Building $50 Million To $100 Million

The correctional facility at JBLM was designed to meet the updated standards and regulations of the U.S. Army.

Northwestern Joint Regional Correctional Facility

Location: Joint Base Lewis-McChord

General contractor: The Walsh Group

This LEED Silver design-build project included the design and construction of a 150-bed correctional facility with kitchen and dining, medical/dental facilities, recreation and administration spaces. The 66,000-square-foot building incorporates Army Corrections Systems Level II (pretrial confinement and minimum/medium security) criteria and Complying with American Corrections Association standards, and other applicable laws and regulations.

Major work elements included utilities, lighting, paving, walks, curbs and gutters, parking, street lighting, storm drainage, information systems, recreational area, site improvements, HVAC and demolition of the existing JRCF, as well as comprehensive interior design including furnishings, fixtures and equipment.
