Tolt Pipeline No. 1 Rehabilitation

Location: Duvall

General contractor: Imco General Construction

The Tolt Pipeline project restored a critical pipeline that provides raw drinking water to the Tolt Water Treatment Facility for the city of Seattle.

In 2009, the pipeline was taken out of service because the hillside was sliding and had caused parts of the pipeline to separate. After the slope was stabilized, Imco rehabilitated approximately 2,500 linear feet of pipeline using 54-inch HDPE pipe installed by sliplining. Excavations were up to 20 feet deep.

The remote project had no internet connectivity, so the team relied on frequent cell communication between on-site personnel and the office to manage the work. The project was completed on time with minimal change orders. Most of the work was performed under live power lines, requiring a relentless emphasis on safety.
