Tobin International

As part of its West Coast expansion, Tobin International announced the addition of a new office in Seattle. The new office is headed by Rob Hathaway, regional account manager for the Northwest. He will be responsible for accounts in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Alaska, British Columbia and Alberta. Tobin provides geo business information systems utilizing map data and decision support software.

Lithia Motors

Lithia Motors of Medford, Ore., completed cash acquisitions of Ted Tufty Dodge in Sioux Falls, S. D., and Seattle BMW. The stores have estimated 2001 sales of $35 million and $50 million, respectively. Lithia Motors is a Fortune 1000 and Russell 2000 company and operates 119 franchises in California, Oregon, Washington, Nevada, Colorado, Idaho, South Dakota and Alaska.

Holland & Knight

The law firm of Holland & Knight combined practices with Weiss Jensen Ellis & Howard. Weiss Jensen's offices in Portland and Seattle, will be under the name of Holland & Knight. Holland & Knight partner Mary Prevost, who has practiced in the firm's Seattle satellite and is a member of the Indian Law Group, will move to the Seattle location. Holland & Knight currently has two other West Coast locations in Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Washington Restaurant Association

The Washington Restaurant Association’s Education Foundation honored its best at its annual symposium. Eight were chosen to be on the WRA’s all-star team: Lee Paris, bartender, Harbor Lights in Tacoma; Don Newton, lead saucier, Trattoria Mitchelli in Seattle; Joseph Harris, Chinooks at Salmon Bay in Seattle, Amber Morrison, Copper Sky in Seattle; Jill Crites, Red Robin in Olympia; Vanessa Gardner, Anthony’s Homeport in Gig Harbor; Gary Anderson, Red Robin in Olympia; Steve Jacobson, Red Robin in Bellingham. The association also honored the host-of-the year: Marc Zanner, Great Western Dining; supplier-of-the-year: Justin Kulhanek, Marsh Advantage; and supplier-of-the-decade: Paul Ellingson, Bargreen-Ellingson. The awards are in recognition of consistency in exceeding guests’ expectations, being an inspiration to others and supporting and assisting team members.

Group Health

Group Health Cooperative named Peter G. Adler vice president for the Puget Sound regional division. Adler, along with his medical director partner, Dr. Gary Feldbau, will be responsible for Group Health's 23 family health centers, four specialty centers, two hospitals and a skilled nursing facility, all within the five Puget Sound-area counties. Adler previously served as Harvard Pilgrim Health Care's senior vice president of network management in Boston.

Mike Jaglois is vice president of marketing at drugstore.com. Jaglois will report to the CEO and be responsible for the strategic growth of the business through development of marketing strategies. Jaglois comes to drugstore.com from McCann-Erickson, where he served as senior vice president/brand director

Berger/ABAM

Warren Wilson was recently promoted to Grade VIII senior project manager at Berger/ABAM Engineers in Federal Way. His assignments have included project management and planning of large transportation facilities, foundation engineering, structural design and analysis, load rating, repairs and widening of existing structures, cost estimating and computer modeling. George Sheng has been promoted to Grade VI project engineer. Sheng has applied his knowledge of static and dynamic pile testing and analyses to multidisciplinary projects. He has performed research and taught at the university level on subjects such as construction engineering, foundation analysis and design, and earthquake engineering. Yuling Teo has been promoted to Grade V project engineer. Teo is a structural engineer specializing in the areas of roadway and bridge design, as well as analysis and calculations. Mary Sanford has been promoted to accountant. Sanford supports the company’s accounting staff responsible for administering accounts payable, payroll and financial reporting.

Higa Burkholder

Higa Burkholder Associates has hired two civil engineers. Todd Powell joined Higa Burkholder as a civil engineer. He specializes in commercial, residential and transportation engineering. David Foster relocated from Santa Barbara as a civil engineer. He has five years of civil engineering experience in residential, commercial and industrial development.

Otak

Roger Millar has been named director of transportation planning to provide firm-wide guidance in client service and project delivery for Otak’s transportation services. He will focus on expanding the company’s leadership role in the areas of transit planning and design, and the integration of transportation, land use policy and planning. As a public official and in private practice, Millar has managed or been a contributor to a number of significant projects, including the Portland Streetcar, the River District Development Plan, the Columbia Corridor economic development initiative and the Lloyd District improvement programs in Portland.

R.W. Beck

Debi Fortin has joined R. W. Beck Inc, an engineering and consulting firm, as an electrical engineer for the electrical group in the Seattle office.

In her new position, Fortin will work on ongoing projects as well as be involved with substations, specifically in the areas of installation plans, equipment preparation and specifications. Fortin, who has more than 12 years of experience in the energy industry, was formerly an engineer with Coffman Engineering in Seattle.

W&H

Adam Haas has been named the executive director of W&H Pacific's telecommunications services. Haas has extensive experience in telecommunications and is one of the top experts in convergence technologies.

Carter & Burgess

The national consulting firm of Carter & Burgess announced that Daniel Broggel has joined the firm as a design manager of design services with the Seattle facilities unit. Broggel will help lead Carter & Burgess’ efforts to expand facilities design services into educational and other public facilities and through business and client development. He also will take an active role in monitoring the quality of design services in the local office.

HDR

Edward M. Tenny has been named national marketing manager for government affairs at HDR Engineering. He has spent the past 10 years as a consultant to municipal agencies, particularly water and wastewater utilities. Tenny is an active leader in professional organizations serving the water, wastewater and public works community. He has represented major water utilities in regulatory negotiations and has presented utility views to regulators and legislators at federal, state and local levels
