Howard Donkin has joined the firm of Jacobson Jarvis & Co. as an audit and tax partner. Donkin was previously with the Bellevue firm of Morrison Donkin. Jacobson Jarvis & Co. is a full-service certified public accounting firm based in Seattle.
Dr. Joel Berg is the new chair of the department of pediatric dentistry at the UW School of Dentistry. Berg is leaving a position as vice president of clinical affairs at Philips Oral Healthcare. He is a board certified pediatric dentist, president of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry Foundation, and a member of the Advisory Council for the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. Berg succeeds Dr. Peter K. Domoto, who recently retired after heading the department for 26 years. Dr. Douglas S. Ramsay will serve as acting chair until Berg assumes his new position on Feb. 1.
TPC Snoqualmie Ridge named D. Sean Case as director of membership sales. Previously, Case served as global senior sales manager for MCI WorldCom in Seattle where he managed customer relationships and sales for the company. TPC Snoqualmie Ridge is located in the Snoqualmie Ridge planned community covering 222 acres, with an 18-hole, par-72 golf course.
Michael T. Riordan has been elected to the board of director's at Spokane's Potlach Corp. Riordan was previously chairman, CEO and president of Paragon Trade Brands, and is a former president and COO of Fort James Corp. He also serves on the boards of the Dial Corp., Wallace Computer Services and American Medical Security. Potlatch owns over 1.5 million acres of timberland in Idaho, Minnesota and Arkansas and manufacturers lumber, panels, bleached pulp, paperboard and consumer tissue.
Recent hires at Seattle University include: Angela Felton as student financial services representative in the financial aid office, Evan D. Lenz as Web content manager for the law school technology department, Heather Dragland as an administrative assistant in the Center for Student Success department, Jessica Johnson as a human resources specialist in the human resources department and Joan Ellison as a student financial services representative in the financial aid office. Felton previously worked as a customer service representative at Metrocall in Pensacola, Fla.; Lenz is currently enrolled in the Seattle University master of software engineering program; Dragland previously worked at Kappler Architects; Johnson previously worked at First Choice Health Network as a human resources assistant; and Ellison is a graduate of the University of San Francisco and received her MLS at the University of Washington.
GayLynn Beighton of the Seattle commercial brokerage Chiles & Co. was elected 2003 president of the Washington chapter of the Commercial Investment Real Estate Institute, an affiliate of the National Association of Realtors. Robert Di Pietrae, an apartment broker with Hendricks & Partners in Seattle, became vice president, and Morgan Llewellan of Llewellan Real Estate will be treasurer. Larry Hoff of Coldwell Banker All American is the next secretary. The remaining new directors for next year are: Don Arsenault, Larry Dixon, Brian Peterson, Connie Boyle and Doug Smith.
John Hatton of Legacy Partners was elected president of the Western Washington Chapter No. 27 of the Institute of Real Estate Management, or IREM, another National Association of Realtors affiliate. Hatton works as a vice president at Legacy Partners Residential Inc., a California-based major apartment developer with a Mercer Island office and various Puget Sound-area projects. The IREM chapter recently named him as its Certified Property Manager of the Year.
John L. Scott Real Estate says its Western Washington offices recorded their fourth-straight home sales volume record-breaking month in November as low interest rates kept housing activity high despite the recession. "Volume sales were up 45 percent and units increased by almost 15 percent for same office count compared to November 2001," the Seattle-based agency said. "Year-to-date the company has already surpassed 2001's record-breaking volume sales, which means 2002 will be John L. Scott's most successful year on record."
Jennifer Zutis became a sales associate in Windermere Real Estate's Ballard office. Zutis previously worked as a sales associate with Prudential MacPherson's. Pam Paine joined Windermere's Queen Anne office. Paine previously worked as an American Airlines flight attendant out of Dallas. Steve Koon joined Windermere's Sand Point office. Koon came from Colliers International.
Conifer 114 sold the 150-unit Golden Hemlock Apartments at 5939 N. 26th St. in Tacoma for $5.98 million to Golden Hemlock LLC. Broker Robert Di Pietrae put the deal together for Marcus & Millichap prior to his move to another firm.
The Seattle Housing Authority, meanwhile, paid Lam-Bow Associates $2.3 million for the 51-unit Lam Bow Apartments at 6935 Delridge Way S.W., another Di Pietrae deal.
Yoshiki Nakamura bought the 17-unit Auburn Oaks Apartments in Auburn at 44 Fifth St. N.E. for $815,000 from Auburn Oaks LLC. M&M's Scott Morasch represented the seller.
